Ranking Iowa State's Big 12 Rivals

I asked nearly 400 of my favorite Cyclone fans to rank the nine Big 12 opponents from biggest rival to smallest rival in football and basketball.

Just scanned the rankings and it seems about right...the only team I really get to dislike level for is KU basketball. UNL leaving really put a dent in my hate cheering. I mean, besides KU basketball I cheer for every B12 team...

With regard to "rivalry" I guess it has to be KSU. Pretty cordial rivalry though.

I think I'd rank Oklahoma State above West Virginia and Baylor -- if nothing else, having the Big 8 tie-in. But I guess the FB series being more lopsided than ISU's vs. those two teams maybe negates that a little.

Basketball the teams I despise the most are Kansas and WVU, KSU is a distant 3rd. I suppose I'd put Oklahoma fourth, due to the years when we duked it out against Hield and Spangler. Freakin spangler, man.

Football, number 1 and 2 are definitely KSU and BU. Baylor must be eternally destroyed in football. WVU third. Forever salty about the Geno Smith halftime thing.

It's funny because I hadn't really considered Rapelor. I want them to disappear. I'd rather we never played them again versus beating them every year. I'd trade them tomorrow for basically any G5 program.

Down here, Ku is the rival and no one else is in the neighborhood. Farmageddon is a fun land grant matchup for sure, but there's nothing there that separates it from the others. Most K-State fans would take a win over OU, oSu, or Texas in either sport to one over ISU. ISU just doesn't have a natural B12 rival with Iowa and to a lesser degree, Nebraska, being in the rust belt league.

I didn't explore, is the site doing this for each Big 12 program, or only ISU?

I'm curious because rivalries are reciprocal.

In about two years basketball will be back to Kansas and football will be Oklahoma. We only consider Kstate a football rival since we have a winning record against them and they are the closest land grant school.

Now that Gramps is gone, we'd take a win over those three teams as opposed to K-State too.

I was trying to figure out why it had the Texas series as 2-14, then looked at the date on the article. 4-14 is much better!
