Vegas is not giving much credit to Hilton Magic.
Two pretty evenly matched teams is what it tells me. Edge to ISU since its at home.
I know it's a rivalry but I was expecting closer to -5. I'm guessing it stays there or moves up slightly. I would feel comfy betting(if I still did) at -4.5.
Might take Iowa for a win/win night.
So Iowa would be 3-4 pt favorite on a neutral court? Really??
Time to win.
Hilton Magic and ISU's recent 40-2 home record in non-fixed games suggest this could be a steal for picking ISU.
Tendency for Ejim and Niang to get into unnecessary foul trouble + Iowa's free throws per game average is what has me worried and why this line makes sense.
If this game is about hitting actual shots I take ISU all day, if it's about constantly parading to the free throw line Iowa has the edge or hopefully Hilton Magic bails us out and keeps it close. ISU simply has players who are much better at putting the ball in the hoop during live play.
I don't get that line. Thought it would be -6.5
I don't get everyone's disrespect towards Iowa this year. They are good fellas. It'll be another great game and test for this team. Go clones!
I was thinking -7 range
Have $90 on ISU no line
Mildly surprising. I expected it to be around 4.5 or 5. Either way, I wouldn't touch this game if I was a betting man.
There's more than one way to skin a cat, whether you like it or not. Iowa's method of offense is just as effective as Iowa State's at putting points on the board.
A team that attempts as many 3's as ISU does isn't going to get to the line as much as a team like Iowa.
Hilton is tough to win, but I just don't understand all the disrespect for Iowa this year. They have a solid squad and they are easily the best team we've faced so far this year, yes they are better than Michigan (at the moment anyways). This is going to be a tough game, and whoever wins is going to have a very nice resume builder come March. Shut down Marble and White, escape their trapping defense, knock down 3's and we win. Niang/Ejim get in foul trouble, struggle with press, can't knock down the 3, we lose.
Time to bring back CyBookie. There are only a handful of teams in the country where I wouldn't bet ISU as a 2.5 point favorite at home.
I'm not disrespecting Iowa but come on, who have they beaten?
If that's the case, shouldn't ISU get more respect for beating Michigan and going on the road to BYU? Those may not be elite wins, but they are better than Notre Dame at home or Xavier in a tourney.
It doesn't matter, rivalry games can make teams play up or play outside of what they normally do. I expect ISU to win by 5.
I'm surprised at the line. I thought I read somewhere that Hilton was a 4-5 pt. advantage. I figured ISU -5. I'd take ISU at -2.5 that is for sure. I'm surprised that Vegas views Iowa as a favorite on a neutral court.....
I bet this gets up to 4 by tip.
