That line up makes it really hard to decide, unless you plan on going several days.

I see Twisted Vine on the list. Sorry to get a little off topic, but has anyone been to their taproom yet? I've been trying to catch up with local places lately. I made it over to 515 Brewery last weekend and I was a little disappointed. The place stunk like raw onions; I just couldn't get past it.

Twisted Vine has a nice large tap room and their beer is decent. With that said, I think 515 is the best(actual beer not the setting) in Des Moines by a long shot so maybe we have different tastes. Not sure why it would smell like raw onions when they don't serve food unless they are going to do a new onion IPA or something :)

Might be the residual biker smell

Where does it list out what they'll have on tap?

*edit* I see it now - the image was blocked at work

I agree with you on the biker thing. It seems like if you're riding a bike it's open season to go into a taproom looking and smelling like you're homeless.

Untappd for a beer listing

It's probably going to cost me a mint but I'm just going to try and Uber it over to the fair so I can drink all day long.

Has anyone had anything from Fox Brewing?

OK, I'm the alcoholic of the bunch

Fox-Went two different times right when they opened.
  1. Slye Rye-I love Rye beers. Gave it a 1.5
  2. Hop-A-Long. Gave it a 3.
  3. Fox Trots Stout-Gave it a 3.5

You could be onto something with the biker smell. I hadn't thought of that. Heads up, 515. Your taproom smells like biker BO.

Anyway, back on topic. If I make it to the fair I'd like to see how the Rock Bottom Summer Honey Ale stacks up against the Madhouse Honey Pilsner. The Madhouse is good stuff; very drinkable but not sweet to the point of cloying.

On a side note, I've heard that Confluence is finally very close to canning.

That'd be awesome. I like their beers but the mini growlers they have at Hy Vee are just a little bit more than I want to drink in one sitting, at least during the week.

I was at 515 Saturday and didn't smell anything funny. Also wasn't biking and showered that morning so pretty sure it wasn't me.

They did have a hops sensory table by the bar, maybe that was it.

Saw a guy with a pint can of Firetrucker beer a few weeks ago. He didn't want to give up any info when I asked about it.
