Can we just focus on Arkansas State in a couple of weeks? All this other stuff will take care of itself...right?
But being ranked early can only help in getting higher later in the year. Yes, early rankings can be a bit of fools gold but it absolutely helps to be ranked. While it’s fun to be ranked, there’s still a lot of preseason hype and single game overreactions built into the current rankings. Remember last year when Colorado beat TCU and jumped to be ranked around #17? Clearly Colorado wasn’t worthy of being a ranked team last year
Point being is rankings are much more meaningful come late October/early November. Just keep winning and these rankings will take care of themselves
And we’ll probably drop in the polls even though we don’t play. That means we're guaranteed to be ranked longer than Iowa this year. at least 2 weeks vs 1 week...
Best case scenario for the Big 12 is that Iowa State and Utah are undefeated and ranked in the top 10 when they play.We could easily be 8-0 before we hit our last 4 games that include KU, K-State, and Utah (and KU scares me a hell of a lot less after yesterday).
Rising left the game yesterday with an injury to his throwing hand. Utah not sure if he’ll miss time or notBest case scenario for the Big 12 is that Iowa State and Utah are undefeated and ranked in the top 10 when they play.
That's true, but it's still a huge advantage. You don't get penalized as harshly. They will chew each other up

I disagree. Public perception will influence the committee. Having a number by your name gets you talked about more and gives you more media coverage. It matters whether it is explicitly listed in the selection criteria or not.Love that we are ranked but AP and coaches polls mean nothing. Playoff rankings are all that matters...and no playoff rankings are not influenced by these polls.
Absolutely loved how ISU played in the 2nd half. Orange is a bad man. I would not want to line up against him ever.
All that matters is Ws and who you beat. Best trams with a winning record and you are better off. @cfbmatrix (Dave Bartoo) on Twitter figured out the formula early on. CW used to have him on KXNO. Bartoo would nail the rankings before the committee announced them. So again, wins and who you beats matters. A quality win is beating a team over .500.I disagree. Usually the AP voters change their votes based on the new CFB rankings, and not the other way around.I disagree. Public perception will influence the committee. How can you say the AP ranking doesn't influence the CFP rankings? They start months earlier. I bet the vast majority of the CFP top 15 rankings are withing a couple of spots of their AP ranking when they are first released.Usually the AP voters change their votes based on the new CFB rankings, and not the other way around.
You mean the AP rankings change based on wins and losses when there’s more data points to go off of? People are acting like pre season polls greatly influence the CFP rankings. How can you say the AP ranking doesn't influence the CFP rankings? They start months earlier. I think getting excited about a ranking this early in the season is enjoying the season.1 game at a time, folks. Let it play out. Enjoy the season.
