Not Iowa but just across the border...Caledonia, MN runs the nation's longest winning streak to 65. They haven't lost since the playoffs in 2014.

30-35 years ago they were a regular.

Actually even 25 years ago (94) they were in the title game vs. City High iirc.

i knee that but somehow forgot that my parents took me to that title game vs city high. I have very vague memories of being there but not much more than that.

I had a lot of childhood connections/experiences with the MVC in the 80s/early 90s and remember quite a bit of it.

One thing I remember is the Dubuque Senior heach coach every year would take his best guard from the prior season and make him his fullback, and they generally had awesome fullbacks, haha.

My alma mater Nevada went 7-2 in 2A but missed the playoffs.

Perry (0-9), South Tama (0-9) and North Polk (3-6) killed them, as well as having 3 teams in their district finish 3-6 or worse. Three more wins total from that group of 6 teams would have probably been enough to bump Nevada up the two spots they needed.

Yeah, I understand the rpi and all......but you can only play who is scheduled. They lost to Greene County by one, and I watched Greene County do a number on DSM Christian last night. So I have a hard time thinking that West Liberty, Monticello and Tipton are any better than Nevada.

edit: I see West Liberty won their district. So they get in no matter.

Was that Senior or Hempstead? In the mid 70's/early 80's Hempstead had big physical team with great fullbacks running the wing-T: Rusk, Ball, Loring, Holt, Drake, Steines

Yea, they're pretty tough. They're in my son's school's conference/district. Well-coached football team

Hmm...that could be.

Was thinking Senior because they tended to be not good, but everyone hated playing them for things like that.

I've got a lot of friends from Cal, including the King boys' dad who was an amazing athlete in his own right. That program has excellent coaching and community support, but I'm always amazed by the athletes that a town that size can continually turn out.

A couple years ago when Waukon won their title, Caledonia and Spring Grove, MN also won. Three titles in a 35 mile radius. Pretty good for a rural area.

A lot of good athletes in that area, extending northwards up to Winona and Red Wing.
