Iowa also picked up a commitment from an in-state 2020 kid from CR Xavier, Ethan Hurkett. No other reported offers, and I know literally nothing about him.

https://iowa.rivals.com/news/hawkeyes-land-grad-transfer-de-zach-vanvalkenburg

“The Iowa Hawkeyes are adding a graduate transfer on the defensive line this year in Zach VanValkenburg from Hillsdale College. The 6-foot-4, 266-pound VanValkenburg, who also considered Michigan State, announced his decision earlier today.”
https://247sports.com/college/san-j...st-graduate-transfer-Mountain-West-127876348/

VanValkenburg, a graduate transfer out of Hillsdale College (Michigan), acquired his degree in three years of college. Now he is immediately eligible as a graduate transfer for the 2019 season. His 70 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles as a redshirt sophomore are why this 6-foot-4 and 260-pound defensive lineman was offered a scholarship by the Spartans.

Those Spartans makes a lot more sense

Not saying he was offered by MSU or not, because I don’t know, but where in that article does it say he was walking on at MSU?
Even if he didn't get a MSU offer, just go with the Iowa flow and say you fended them off.

Kid looks like a beast and apparently the integrity and character of Iowa and KF/coaches were huge deal to him. Probably a big reason he chose Iowa over Sparty.

Big time difference between the Iowa program and Michigan State program with regard to character and integrity. I know that KF is not a big fan of Dantonio.

So you just made it up. Ok say that then

No. It's called common sense. There's nothing indicating he had an offer from Michigan St. Based off who was after him he looks like a mid major type prospect. Honestly it's a good move for Iowa though because they need bodies and he only takes up a scholarship for a year. Let's just not pretend he's something he's not

Did he have a Sparty offer?

It's been reported by sources, reportedly. Great high-character kid, looks like a winner.
