This dual had nothing to do with my post. It was basically a backups dual, not a barometer of anything.
If you think even at full strength we are even close to a threat to PSU that's high level homerism. They will have about as many finalists as we have all-Americans.
Rathjen got paid a pretty good bag to stay on as a room guy.

Ah…I consider that to be this year which is why I was confused. At least many of them left in the late summer, anyway. A lot of room guy types there, looking to get mat time, along with a few guys who are in their last year but got recruited over in the summer and want a shot at NCAAs/medals. Haven’t heard any grumbling about them feeling wronged but I could see it.
Talk to them when they are done. I had heard some stuff, but this confirmed it. AJ Ferrari situation was like a fireball going through the room. That upset the team pretty deep.
To me it’s very easy to see why those guys left.

I do think Ferrari was a problem, just as you described. Iowa is fortunate to have an adult AD because the Brands’ are children.
However, the consequential transfers left months after Iowa rejected AJ and only after the 2 late transfers showed up. I haven’t heard much but certainly could understand some hard feelings over how that went down.
Ferrari situation DEFINITELY messed up that room and beyond, including staff surrounding the program. I wish he would have stayed and continued to raise hell so we could watch but he definitely did some serious damage while he was there.
