Man, it really bothers you that Jackson is so terrible on defense.

You already know the numbers on Garza otherwise you wouldnt have asked me to post them.

Yeah I don't think we're going to miss Jackson much. He'd be the best guard on your team but we'll upgrade next year with Shayok.

Garza's defense is awful. Really really awful

Pretty crazy. Made me wonder where the gap was.

    Defense.....the gap is in defense.

I thought most ISU fans were counting on big things from him this year? At least from reading here that is what I gathered.

So ISU fans weren't high on Jackson coming into the season?

There is no question that Jackson is a good jump shooter and can give you a flurry of points. Rarely misses at the FT line.

As far as assists and rebounds go he doesn't contribute to many. If his Drate and whatever else is accurate, he struggles defensively too (personally when I watch he looks fine on defense).

He plays 34MPG but truth be told he would be better off in a 23-27 MPG role where his main job is to score and space the floor.

I mean he's better than any guard you have but with Babb and Wigginton he's definitely replaceable with Shayok coming in

I don't recall any threads that most were gushing on Jackson. There was plenty of hype for Wigginton and a few people that I respect for their basketball opinions were high on Babb.

I thought Jackson would take a step forward this year. He really has not.

He is the same guy as last year -- great for 20-25 MPG as a bench gunner, but only average or slightly below average as a full-time starter in the Big 12.

    Streaky as all heck, too.

He would find time on basically any team outside of the Top 10 in the country, though. He has a lot of defects, but he really is that good of sniper.

Donovan is the teams leading scorer, the #11 scorer in the league, best FT shooter in the league, top 10 in 3pt % and has more 20+ point games than everyone not named Trae Young. Seems like he's giving us quite a bit and thats with only one other guy teams respect at all on the perimeter. I think we'll miss him more than people think. His production won't be impossible to replace but it'll be tough to replace his presence. The attention he draws gets everyone better shots.

Next year there will be an obvious upgrade in talent but no one coming is in his league when it comes to shooting. The good news is, there will be 2 or 3 guys vying to fill his role, this season, if he isn't hitting, the 3 ball isn't much a factor, it'll be nice to spread that out in case someone is having an off night.

Jackson is at 44.2% (42/95) in conference.

Wigginton is at 42.6% (29/68) in conference. The emergence of Wigginton as a legitimate outside shooter -- higher than Naz as a senior! -- has been amazing.

Seriously. Naz was 41.8% (59/141) his last campaign in the Big 12.

I hope we can somewhat replace Jackson by committee...

    -- keep Wigginton
-- Shayok is a career 37.4% and hopefully worked on his shot
-- hopefully Lewis figures something out
-- hopefully a healthy NWB takes about a million shots this summer
-- same for Jacobson incoming and Jakolby Long
-- hopefully THT has a viable outside shot

I know having that one knock-down guy is invaluable, but simply having more decent options hopefully balances with have two good ones then nothing.

This was the same stupid **** you idiots tried to use to compare Jbo with Monte this past summer to pretend he isn’t completely overmatched as a pg in a major conference.

You really are that insecure and ignorant

DJ isn’t a lead guard, but he’s a very good 3rd guard when he plays that role. I wouldn’t have been against redshirting him, but that wasn’t/isn’t realistic. His on-ball defense is good when he’s not saving himself, and he’d be a game-changing instant-offense off the bench.
