Illinois absolutely needs some profit from beer sales as butts in seats sucks right now. And, the beer will make the losses more tolerable.

Texas already allows beer sales in their football stadium.

Illinois joins Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers and Ohio State as schools permitting in-stadium alcohol consumption.

Texas and WVU in Big12. Any others in Big12?

I saw in an article that WVU clears $500,000 annually in beer sales.

    OSU and TTU do.
OU and TCU look like they are in process, adding it for other sports but not football (yet)
I think KSU and KU are exploring it

I dont think we'll change it though as long as Pollard is here. He seems pretty strongly against it.

That's strange, I always drink alcoholic beverages in Jack Trice. Nothing new here.

It helps when you are sponsored by an insurance company. Built-in protection.

From stadiums that I've been in like WV, (new) Colorado State, (new) Minnesota, I haven't seen that many problems with beer sales to be honest.

I don't get Pollard's stance on this. Does he think he will lose parking revenue because fewer will tailgate? People that want to get drunk at a football game will find a way regardless of it being sold to the general public or not. Why not take the cash? I don't get it.

Yea, in some way, it is fairly hypocritical. One of the sells of the SEZ is booze, so why not let other fans enjoy a cold one?

If KU and KSU crack, I cannot imagine ISU won't be far behind. Another $500,000 a year to the bottom line is not shabby.

We make more money off people upping their donations to get in the Sukup and Johnny's than we would selling beer to the public

So have premium stuff in there, and sell Busch Light everywhere else. And also let's not forget, those donations for tickets are no longer tax deductible. So, that could foster a change in time. Still, don't know if that will have an effect or not.

What is the donation required to get in the Sukup or Johnny's?
