You mean turn a terrible team into a team that can win 5-7 games some years but also really sucks some years? Yeah I think we did that already.

Traditionally I don't think the ACC has been nearly as strong as the Big 12, but I get the point. Before this season I'd have said I'd think we could at least compete for it in three to four years, but obviously we took a big step back this season and lost a lot of that momentum.

Three words: Quarterback, Quarterback, Quarterback. (Since Anthony Boone has started, they haven't lost)

Duke... Baylor... K-State even... It can be done. QBs and COACHING... Even ISU was on the verge with Sage and then Seneca. Too bad OU figured us out and gave everyone a gameplan to beat us after that (we lacked on the coaching side a bit, still love ya DannyMac)

Duke doesn't have to play against 4 teams located in the state of Texas.

You saying that we can't do it, then?

Impossible? No. But the road is much easier in the ACC, that much is undeniable, especially when your division doesnt include Florida State or Clemson, and your cross-division schedule only puts you against the 2 worst teams in the other division and avoids the 2 best teams in the ACC.

We had similar help years ago when we had the easier division and every 2 years we got a rotation with the 3 easiest teams in the south..... and what do you know, those years we damn well should have been in the title game.

It can be done. It would be a lot easier if there were still divisions in the Big 12. Playing Texas, the new Baylor, OSU, Oky, and a Bill S KState, makes it very hard for an ISU to get to a BCS game or top 2 in the conference. There are 5 teams in a 10 team conference that are not easy wins and for the near future that isn't going to change.

Duke winning its division in ACC this year is roughly similar to Iowa State in '04 and '05 in Big12 North (one division top-heavy, the other more balanced). Duke took advantage when it was in the driver's seat, ISU did not.

For some reason my TV landed on the Duke game where they clinched bowl eligibility.

In this game, where they got win #6, they were 0-13 on third down conversions and had 113 yards total offense.

That's a whole bunch of want-to right there.

Sometimes it's just your turn to rise. (Don't be dismayed by the 50+ beating you'll take this weekend)

This. A million times, this. We HAVE been in Duke's position and then p*ssed away a spot in the B12 CG. TWICE!
