The only time that traffic has been backed up is on Friday afternoons. Should be 55 for about a 4 mile stretch is all. I ran up through it earlier today with no problems.

Have a safe trip!

Caused by road construction...

New bridges are being put in for US 14/US218 over I35 just south of Owatonna. It's part of the US 14 bypass around Waseca. See the link below.

I've had to cover a couple accidents up around that interchange (I believe MM40) on southbound 35 this summer, none recently though. Road is reduced to one lane in the area and traffic can get backed up pretty easily. Just take it easy through there and you'll be fine.

I haven't noticed anything major going on to NB 35 in that area though.

Also from MNDoT...

I-35 and Hwy 14 in Owatonna
Description: Ramp from northbound I-35 to eastbound Hwy 14 and the ramp from westbound Hwy 14 to southbound 1-35 will close
Construction Dates: April 16 - Nov.
Traffic Impacts: Ramp closed
News:
The southbound lanes of I-35 near Owatonna will be reduced to a single lane beginning Monday, June 28. The lane will be closed approximately two weeks as crews construct a temporary ramp connecting I-35 southbound to Highway 14 eastbound. All lanes will be open during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

I drove southbound Friday around 3:30 and it was backed up for 3-4 miles. Same for northbound. It was a 30-40 minute delay for me. Can't say if it was just Friday traffic but it was really messed up.
