How would you compare JB to SJ

I think this is what Rhoads meant when he said that he said right before the Pinstripe Bowl that he thought Jantz was better prepared. I think he knew that he was going to get double-blitzed all day and thought Jantz would be more likely to make something happen on broken plays.
And that did not work either....:wideeyed:

We needed the Mike Leach offense - dump the ball quickly

I was really disappointed in the bowl game. When Rutgers made adjustments, we had no answer. I blame that on Herman and still question if we should have made Coach Mess interim OC for the bowl practices and game and simplified the same plays at that time. It would have given Rutgers the opportunity to question what we were going to do in certain circumstances as a new guy would be calling/suggesting plays and I really think Herman was preoccupied with his new job and not as focused on ISU as he should have been. I know CPR made that call, but it is the one part of the bowl I still question.

We outright sucked in the bowl game and I attribute alot of that to the approach of the bowl game being a reward for a great season. I don't think preparation was as tight as it could/should have been and CPR decided to let the team really enjoy the experience touring around NYC instead of buckling down and working to really take everything seriously and win the game.

Not saying that is wrong as the team deserved a reward...just saying it may have contributed to a poor performance.

I think both JB and SJ showed strong intangibles at times last year. Both guys played well in crunch time, and rallied the team from being down in big games. Both guys overcame dumb mistakes in games they won (SJs 3 picks against UConn, Barnett's pick-6 against OK State) and showed the ability to move past mistakes.

Outside of those first few bowl possessions, JB never sucked as bad as SJ did against Texas and Mizzou, but he never played as good as Jantz did against Iowa.

More reasons this race is a tough one. Looking at last year's body of work, I just don't see enough to clearly separate them. For everything one guy did good, you can point to something else the other guy did just as well, and vice/versa for the bad.

IMO opinion throw the bowl game out neither QB had much time to pass with all of the blitzing Rutgers did, name 1 team in the B12 that blitzes like that. The O-line looked terrible!!!!! Also throw it out because Tom Herman had 1.5 feet out he door and didnt gameplan much.
If a Sophmore and a Senior are equal in ability etc, I'll take the Sophmore every time, much more potential upside.

I disagree, if that bowl game would have gone like it did with Messinham as the OC, fans would have turned up the heat and not given Mess anytime at all. We'd be discussing how terrible of an OC he was going to be. I'll sacrifice the Pinstripe Bowl for the future anyday of the week

I think we should have run Woody much more earlier in the game.

Steele has hit the weight room hard in the off season and looks like the Hulk. This is going to be a good battle for the starting job.

In this specific situation I wouldn't take the sophmore because I think Richardson will be better than JB and win the job in 2013 so u don't want him starting and then losing the job the very next year. He would lose all confidence and prob transfer after that.

BTW I'm basing this off if JB and SJ are "even", but if one of them clearly separates themselve from the other then they should start.

JB will be the QB starting this coming season. The freshman will probably be the backup. JB has the players on his side. He has some intangibles that sj doesn't have.

If that were the case, why was JB taking reps with the 3s at some points so far this spring?

It'll be a close battle, the one who eliminates the turnover problem will be the starter.

Cydude, unlike last year, we only have 3 QB's. In order to give Sam a decent look, SJ and JB have to work with the other groups at times. I can guarantee they've all repped with the "3's". And with the WR injuries some of so-called "3's" may be in the rotation next fall.

Can you tell us why you are such a huge Barnett fan? No disrespect. I just would like to know. Family member?
