Reading Kirk Haaland's article brought back many memories from my years at ISU:
The modern era began with Johnny Majors from 1968-1972, and our first two bowl games, and the beginning of plans for the new stadium. We used to sit between the goal posts, in the end zone raised bleachers of old Clyde Williams Field. (The bleachers started at the elevation of the cross bar.) I Remember 1969 with Obert Tisdale the big former running back, converted for one year to quarterback. He could throw the ball the length of the field. When he went back to pass we would cheer: "Go Obert," but sadly none of his receivers could run that far that fast, so most of the time the ball would hit the ground. Later, Earl Bruce went 8/3, 8/4, and 8/4 with two more bowl games in his last two years at ISU. Then we faced the Donny Duncan bust starting in 1979 at 3/8. We did not reach anything near 8 wins again until 9/3 with McCarney in 2000, and than Matt Campbell at 8/5 in 2017 and 2018, and now 8+/2 in 2020.

For us old timers who have followed the Cyclones from the start of the modern era, it has been a long time coming, so GO CLONES, GET THAT CHAMPIONSHIP!

Saw my first game in Clyde Williams (Chris Williams' Grandpa) Field in 1974. It was wonderful. I couldn't wait to get to college.

People, we are in a real renaissance, one we must nurture and protect and continue. The previous upturns in fortune were just temporary, with coaches leaving for greener pastures and an administration that was short-sighted when it came to fund raising, etc. It's going to take all of us to continue to support this program as much as possible. Give a little (or a lot) to the Cyclone Club. Buy another season ticket or two. Bring a friend, turn them into Cyclone fans. We don't want to look back in twenty years from now and dream about what could have been. The time is now.

The age of the Cyclone is here. The age of the hok is done.

Its funny that Haas talks about practicing in the Lied like it was bad. It wasn't built until 1990 and I believe was the first indoor practice facilities at all for the team. Seems awful today, but was such a great improvement for the team at the time.

Is that true? Does Chris talk about that anywhere? I never heard him mention it, or write about it.

That's where I saw my first game as well. Can't remember a thing about it except that I took my dad. Don't even remember who we played or if we won.

Everybody knows that CF became self-aware during Big 12 expansion megathread and killed off CW, only to recreate the current avatar we see know. It's pretty clear that Cody Road's website also became self-aware recently and rather than engage in a battle to take over the world, CF and Cody Road have joined forces.

Not meant to be "bad", more unique with how practice would be going on with students working out upstairs. Not everything from the 90s that came to mind was supposed to be negative... what could be negative about a helmet car or hot tub?!?! :)
