I think ISU men should practice at Old State Gym

until they get their free throws percentage above 75%

Its a honor to have that new basketball facility but it seems like they are not taking advantage of it, so they should go to the Old State Gym and practice until they make their frees throws....

Now if only State Gym was open and had basketball hoops and a floor in it!

And do you realize how excellent a team percentage of 75% would be?

The fans could yell; at them while they practiced to simulate crowd effect.

I think they used to have these out at Towers.

Yes, I left a good chunk of my right hand ring finger in one of the Towers' chain nets. Not fun as it also meant I had to go to student death.

If you could shoot in the old State Gym you could shoot anywhere. Those were the tightest rims in the history of basketball.

Like Rocky going back to the old gym after getting his butt pasted after training being pampered in the limelight.

The rims at Beyer aren't any more friendlier. . .

The guys I played Intramural ball with used to joke about the Curse of State Gym. We never won a game there but had a little more success in Beyer. It's definitely a tough place to shoot.

Re: I think ISU men should practice at Old State Gym

Maybe I'm weird, but I always liked playing at State Gym better than Beyer.

State Gym had a lot more character and a warm kind of feeling, where Beyer was white walls and a cold atmosphere. I also thought the rims were actually more forgiving at State Gym. But that's just me.

How old is State Gym? I hope when you say they are "renovating" it, they are doing their best to keep it the way it was? It would be a shame if you walked inside State Gym and it was all modern looking. It really should be a historical building, and should be kept like it is IMO.

This team's FT shooting is ridiculous. There really is no excuse for it. I believe we are dead last in the league, correct?

I'm sure GMac is well aware of the situation. Contrary to what some on here think, GMac's not dumb. But what else can he do besides have them shoot hundreds of FTs everyday, which I'm sure he's already doing.

Some NBA players are still horrible FT shooters. It's in your head. You may even hit them in practice, but once your in front of 10,000+ fans in a pressure situation, you clam up and start clanking them.

I almost think FT shooting has to be recruited? Some players are just good at it, while others are not.

If we need clutch FTs right now, I'm only confident in Christopherson on this team to shoot them. Then probably Brackins next. After that, good luck.
