K-State MBB dominated by Marquette. Wildcats looked like The Gang Who Couldn't Shoot Straight.meets the Keystone Kops.
Judging teams based on lucky tourney runs fueled mainly by others upsets is just a way of life in CBB. No one ever learns. Best way to find a champion, not the best way to find the best team.
Really don't care that much...I'd think an over .500 conference record for ISU an only loss maybe at Iowa gets them in the tourney.
Big 12 not as good as past years. Big 10 is good and deep like big 12 has been in the past few years. Not a big deal it’s one year and still early for teams to turn it around.
Conference could be down a little but I'm not going to base it solely on a poor KState performance. It's PROBABLE that they're overrated.
Yeah, to me K State is a team that overachieves and can be better than a sum of its parts. I think they’ll undoubtedly be upper half of the Big 12, but I think there are a few teams that have higher ceilings.
I told you last week that K-State was underperforming. They're just not very good right now. In addition, Texas got beat by Radford. Baylor by Wichita. oSu by Minnesota. This should mostly be a walk in the conference park for the B12 basketball elites: Ku, ISU and TxT.
Baylor got down 33 before a second half comeback in their loss to Wichita St. I don’t see the Big 12 a season one of the top 2 conferences this year. But I think ISU will be in Top 4 in the league if we avoid chemistry issues when we get all our guys back.
I honestly don't get all the love for K-State this year. Their pre-season ranking was based on their cake-walk to the Elite 8 and the fact that they had alot of players returning. People forget that they were 10-8 last year and needed a 16 seed to beat a 1 to even go anywhere. I think they are a tourney team and should be ranked in the 20-30 range, not 12th.
There have been some bad non-conference losses in the B12 so far this year, will be interesting to see how this pans out come March.
Yeah, it was just hard to find teams to rank over them early in the season. I agree with you that they were overranked, but who could you put in front of them that deserved it?
At Marquette doesn’t look like a bad loss. The day could have been a lot worse considering Tech was down 10-15 to Memphis and KU got taken to OT by a ****** Stanford team. KU is fortunate Vick came back. Only one of their 3 transfers is playing much (although at an All-American level) and their stud freshman is disappointing.
Agreed. KSU was a Round of 32 caliber team, not an Elite Eight caliber team. If not for a historic loss by Virginia, KSU would have lost in the Round of 32 and been ranked in the low 20s or so which is more appropriate for them. KSU has some excellent individual players and they will beat some excellent teams this year but they do not have the depth, elite talent and coaching to win a high enough percentage of their games against solid teams to be a Top 10 team. They may get pumped up and beat KU this year and then follow it right up with a home loss to a bottom half of the Big 12 team. It's kinda what they do. I think they are the 4th best team in the Big 12 behind KU, ISU and Texas Tech.
KU played about a C level game last night and still won. Only one player not named Vick made a basket from outside the paint last night. And Dedric Lawson is both the reason we're winning games and the reason our offense isn't running very well. Dude gets the ball and everything just stops. And I didn't think it was possible for someone to have a smaller vertical than Georges Niang but I think Lawson might be the one. Total below the rim player. No wonder the NBA doesn't want him. But, he went for 24 and 15 and kept us afloat while we waited for Vick to find the range and for Stanford to come back to earth so we'll take it. Stanford got 5 three pointers from guy who averaged 3 minutes a game prior to this. Glad we survived it. Vick is on a hot streak the likes I have never seen before. Three games with 7+ threes made and we're only 6 games into the season. That's nuts.
Ku played a C level game at home. K-State played their best, A plus level, in Milwaukee and got smoked. This was clear by watching, although I didn't see Ku.
