I just watched the highlights of the 2022 game yesterday. Even though we won the game, it was incredibly ugly. We tried so hard to lose that game but still pulled it out. The Brock fumble at the goal-line and the twenty yard penalty at the end was ridiculous.

I don't think that qualified as an ass kicking...

Our defense was pretty freaking dominant iirc. We’re never going to beat them like 41-7. And outside of tOSU, Michigan, and some one off randoms like Purdue or Pedo St. no one is going to blow them out, their whole existence is based on not getting blown out.

Isn't that what already happens? I always thought you went to jail (at least overnight) if you were charged with a DUI. Don't you lose your license for a while as well? Doesn't the punishment get worse after the first offense?
Far too many get a slap on the wrist and the punishments don't escalate fast enough with repeat offenders to deter the behavior. This country needs to get serious about drinking and driving. 1 - Stop normalizing the behavior. 2 - Punish the people who do it severely enough so that it doesn't happen again.

As long as texting and driving penalties are exactly the same. Because it's just as bad in terms of accidents, and that is the point of it being illegal.

Sorry, I think we already have a 10,000 post thread about this elsewhere.

I was waiting for a Scotty Scheffler type of situation with the cops. Or did Brown tell them he was going to late for his tee time?

It's a 2023 pretty new to have ball joint failure. I'm guessing he drove into something pretty solid.
Agreed - I noticed later it was a new vehicle, Scratch that, giving benefit of the doubt to th kid? With that if he did that kind of damage....He's lucky he or someone else was not seriously injured and he was Fing hammered!!

Saw that he got that ever so strict single game suspension. Guess drunk driving isn’t that big of a deal in Iowa City?

Matt Thomas got a 2 game suspension for drunk driving back in 2014. Let’s not pretend like any of these schools do anything about it.

Is this still a thing? CarPlay is like a universal feature now. I think there was a time where there was a gap, and every other radio ad or tv or billboard was “don’t text and drive”. Now I rarely see any mention of it.

CarPlay and AndroidAuto may be basically standard on all vehicles now, but the amount of people still nose deep in their phone texting and instagramming is astronomical.

I just rarely see it anymore. I think the stiff penalties and focus on enforcement worked in this case. The problem with focusing and enforcing drunk driving is that people are drunk when they make the decision to drive.

I still see people doing it frequently. Feels nearly universal at times. Android Auto & CarPlay are great for what they are, but they aren't perfect for texting and don't let you browse Twitter/FB/Instagram/TikTok at all (and for good reason), so people are definitely still using their phones.

I do agree that it feels like there's less publicity about the issues with it, but that feels to me more like them giving up than declaring it a success. They were investing a lot of money enforcing something that has a relatively insignificant penalty, is probably somewhat difficult to prove in a lot of cases, and it feels sort of inevitable.
