The no shot clock thing is so painful. Might as well take out the 3 pt line this it’s not even basketball at this point.

Reminds me of this game quite a few years ago with a little more dribbling..."The lowest scoring game in high school history was a girls district tournament game in Iowa between Melvin and Sibley. Final score at the end of regulation game was 0-0. The game went into 4 overtimes and ended with Melvin coming out on top with a final score of 4-2. It will never happen again in history because girls basketball in the state of IA then was played 3 on 3 half court. Now girls high school basketball is played 5 on 5 full court". (From Wikipedia)

It could happen again without a shot clock.

Waukee is fun to watch. Johnston is hitting 3’s as well to keep it from being a blowout.

Waukee was straight fire in the first half. Johnston going to need to figure out their defense at half or this game is over.

So who are the girls ISU is recruiting left in the Iowa State tournament?

I have seen mention that ISU has offered Crooks the soph from Garrison. Tanke the freshman from Johnston has unofficially visited ISU.

There are a number of non-senior players in the tournament that look pretty solid. Riley the other freshman from Johnston looks talented. There were also some good underclassman on IA City West team.
I haven't been keeping track of which teams are remaining in the tournament, but here's a list of players from the state of Iowa we appear to be recruiting (not a complete list, but it's probably most of our top targets in Iowa):
2023:
Arianna Jackson (verbal)
Kelsey Joens
Audi Crooks (offer)
Sahara Williams (offer)
2024:
Aili Tanke
Callie Levin (offer)
Aliyah Al-Hameed

Congrats Denae Fritz for making the State Championship. To follow up mred's post, here's the tournament bracket.

https://tssaasports.com/event/bracket.cfm?id=20200303
FYI for those too lazy to click, Maryville plays Page in the state quarterfinal this Thursday (March 11) at 8:30 pm. I assume that is central time since the location of the game (MTSU) is in central time, but oddly the bracket doesn't specify the time. You'd think a state split nearly in half into two time zones would be very good about specifying which time zone something is in.

EDIT: I finally found a page that specifies CST: https://tssaasports.com/event/file.cfm?championshipid=20200303&type=schedule

At 8;30 PM (CT) on Thursday, March 11, Denae Fritiz's high school team will go for their first statement tournament win in 98 years. Wow that's a long long time. There's a paid online streaming for the game.

Danae Fritz's Maryville HS team just won the Tennessee GBB State Tournament quarter-final 57-39

Here's an article on the game, including a highlight video. She's #23 for the team in black. At the 45 second mark of the highlight video, she makes a circus shot that I can't figure out even after watching it five times.

Here's a direct link to video of that shot:

#SCTOP10

By the way, after the quarter-final game, Denae Fritz has scored her 2,000th career point, along with over 1,000 career rebounds. She said in an interview that she is a player who plays with an edge and attitude, a little chip on her shoulder and she believes she can play at the college Power 6 level. She's become more and more intriguing and might end up as the next Alexa Middleton.

Maryville loses in the semis, 54-44. Fritz led the team with 15.

Wish Fritz could have taken her team to the Championship! We got a pretty good recruit none-the-less and I hope she leaves her mark at Iowa State.

Wise came to Ames with, at least to me, similar credentials and was an all-important back-up defensive specialist here. Even though in HS Madison had great offensive output, she never got to prove that at Iowa State.

By the way, and is likely common knowledge that, Fritz was originally born in Ames and both of her parents were Cyclones as well.
