Gilman going back to PA might be family related. His wife is Mike Evan’s sister (former Iowa 165/174). From Harrisburg just down the road from state college.

I am sure somebody said the exact same thing about Gable back in the day. It's lonely in their stratosphere and they don't get there by taking a back seat to anyone. If I were them I would all gas, no brake, too.
I heard Gilman got into it with a donor and Gilman's wife got into it with Taylor's wife. Gilman is just going to train with PSU, I don't think he's actually on staff for PSU. So giving up a assistant coaching gig for a non-paying gig makes sense if the above did happen.
I think his wife is also from Pennsylvania and did not like Stillwater very much
