Why can’t CW share/break the story? If he has media credentials through ISU.. he’s part of the media.. and can share any confirmed information.

Because they are still investigating it? Why would he say a name that’s linked to it to later find out they were innocent? Or say a name the NCAA didn’t know about and get them in trouble?

I don’t know, but I suspect, for all media this far, the small risk of being wrong, combined with the big risk of ticking off sources and the AD, outweighs the very small reward of being first.

You can get media credentials for press conferences, events, games, etc. But nobody is officially licensed by ISU to report on the team or break news. CW could "break" the news, but I don't think he's really in that part of the game. He's a media personality at this point, not a reporter. He could share the names on the premium board, but it's not worth it in his role.

I heard 5 names that if we were to lose them for the season, could legitimately be looking at a 1-3 win scenario. I only heard that one of those guys was done for the year, and he was the most expendable, IMO. If you took our 10 most important players, all of these guys would be on the list, and at least 2-3 are in the Top 5.

What I heard was completely 3rd hand, so take it with a grain of salt, but it seems like a lot of people are hearing the same things.

College athletes sports betting is illegal no matter the age, at least in Iowa but probably everywhere too.

I’d love to see where you saw that. It’s against the NCAA rules, but an athlete that is 21 or over wouldn’t go to jail or even pay a fine for sports betting if it were up to the legal system.

I have no idea who any of the players are, except for Dekkers, but I have a bad feeling whoever it is could be done for the season. At a bare minimum I think it will be half the season.

But if someone like Dekkers misses half the season, he isn't going to come in halfway through and become the immediate starter IMO. At that point, you just roll with whoever has been playing.

Do you want him back at all? He intentionally broke the most black and white rule in the book and did it in the facility (allegedly). I'm not sure that's the guy you want in the most high profile position on your team.

I'm ready to move on if it's all true which appears it is. From what I've heard I haven't been impressed with leadership behind the scenes.

I haven’t quite made up my mind if I want him back or not? Sounds like what he did might be pretty bad, but I normally believe in second chances too, and I think CMC does as well.

It does kind of depend on what he bet on IMO.

I would think that is accurate. And a big reason why there is a waiting game until all penalties are known: State vs NCAA.

If the NCAA hasn't specified penalties, it just speculation. Same goes for state charges, if no indictment- not sure there is a news story.

This whole situation has been gone over on this thread for weeks, but you just know when this all breaks we're going to see the worst of worst posters on here blowing up about this being the end of everything.
