I've been following this on this thread, so certainly understand how some is speculation, etc....but i too am shocked it's not been "broke" thus far or at least talked about more.....even Tommy Birch...he keeps doing that story on soccer, you'd think he'd be more than happy to do something with this story. Or even some of the other random questions that Randy P. would ask, you'd think there would be more bubbling more publicly. Unless, of course, there is the fear of credential access, etc.

It'll also be interesting to listen to media outlets after info is share (if it is indeed shared with details). I know CW has talked about it on his various pods (but again, more of just "what if" type of stuff and also bigger picture discussions on the rules, legal gambling now, etc.). Of course he and Blum can't share if they know stuff, but i just can't imagine the don't given the ties to the program.
If I know, even with my less frequent interactions with key parties these days, you can guarantee most others know.

However, this isn’t like a recruiting or depth chart story. This involves both crimes and infractions, something that nobody wants to be wrong about. I could post all the names I know, and I’m 99% certain they’re accurate given the sources, but if even one of them were to end up not being included in the DCI findings for whatever reason, I’m at a legal exposure, not to mention ethical one.

I had originally heard the goal was to have actual amounts and details turned over to ISU by the DCI by end of May, but heard last week that may slip as interviews were still taking place.

Thanks for the response and you are correct about accuracy (and believe me, nothing i want more than media to do their due diligence and have facts).

Why can’t CW share/break the story? If he has media credentials through ISU.. he’s part of the media.. and can share any confirmed information.

I was going on the assumption of if that isn't helpful to ISU, he wouldn't do it (i.e. relationships, etc). But you are correct, with the old notion of "two sources to confirm" you'd think that could EASILY be done and could be broke.

This would be a fascinating POD topic without a specific situation, but in general. I remember CW calling himself a "message board hack" or whatever..but now the "media" is a mix of lots of folks in the pressers, with access, etc.

Someone mentioned this to me, which i'd never thought about regarding gambling. The whole deal with rules regarding this stuff is to keep the confidence in betting system. Think of folks that have "more access" to teams...say a donor wanting to watch a practice (heck, even the media) could have info (let's say see the team running schemes not including a couple starters).....tell their friends....make a bet on the under...and win. Just a thought that this gambling stuff could truly alters things (if the goal is to keep legal betting above board)

Pure speculation on my part, but I keep wondering if Campbell's sit down with Max Olson for the recent Athletic article is in any way related to the gambling rumors. Maybe Max calls to confirm a few details, Matt says we're still working through it, in exchange for not publishing rumors before the dust settles, here's a bunch of content for an article on how we're trying to build our program. Some positive publicity before the bad news hits. Again, pure speculation on my part.

So is this a dismissal thing then? I know some kids at a patriot league school who got kicked out of school for it but not sure if that's an ncaa thing or an honor code at the school thing.
My guess is a dismissal is program decision and the NCAA is all about eligibility.

I wonder if Pollard wants the first report of player suspensions to come from Iowa, since the initial report of infractions was from there. I would think the first report is going to be the biggest, front page, news. Thereafter, suspensions will slowly dribble out, making it no longer as newsworthy.

Seems like many of us are hearing the same thing, consequences have basically been finalized and it’s just a matter of the announcement. This is going to sting and be a major national story. At this point I just want to rip the bandaid off and move forward.

Anybody in the know willing to share some names with me via DM? I don't post private information anywhere else and the only person I'd be inclined to tell would be my wife.

Ethics is one thing and certainly worth considering, but so long as someone speaks in terms that make it clear they are not claiming certain things to be true and simply repeating what they have heard (which would be entirely truthful), I'd imagine the actual legal exposure is low. This is also why the media uses (even overuses, arguably) terms like "alleged". Because then the media isn't making the claims themselves, they are saying "this is what the prosecutor is saying", and it is entirely truthful, whereas they might end up in a defamation situation if they put it out there directly as a fact and they end up being innocent.

I'd ask for a picture prior to DMing her.
