Not exactly sure.
So……if what is being posted is true, which story works best for Hunter? Something like he was just inserting the bets for his mom since his mom didn’t know how to work the app, or ma was polishing the knob of a GA or something and then placed a bet before/after while in his office?

The part that I'm concerned about will be if we find out ISU players bet on ISU games.

How hard is it to have a buddy on campus not affiliated to the team, to have an account and just throw him money if you’re looking to bet?

I’m intrigued on how this plays out since this is all fairly new. . I get it is against the rules, but if he was betting on NBA, UFC, etc, kicking him off the team seems a bit much. No idea how the NCAA will go about it.

It all seems so hypocritical when gambling is getting thrown in your face literally everywhere to perhaps ruin a kids college for it.

I think Iowa Gaming Commission released a statement saying there was no evidence of impropriety on games. So, I take that to mean the kids weren’t betting on their own teams at least.

If the rumors are true (and I’m not saying they are, cause I don’t know) I’m also curious how they tied Hunter’s mom’s bets back to Hunter. If it was Hunter’s mom placing the bets, would Hunter have plausible deniability?

I'm hoping betting was on UFC or Boxing something that doesn't have an NCAA championship, because then the NCAA won't care. That would still be against Iowa laws though.

I agree that it is hypocritical for schools to take money from casinos, yet it is illegal for athletes to global place bets.

But rules are created for a reason. Maybe they should evolve with the times, but the law is pretty black and white. We don't have the ability to decide what laws we like and don't like and act without repercussions.

Obviously, if someone is placing bets with a family members or friends account, the person realizes they are breaking rules/law and the level of deception is concerning. Not just a one-off mistake.

This is the worst part for me, and why I can see a scenario where Campbell dismisses him from the team.

I hope he wasn't dumb enough to Venmo her money in the exact amount or something really stupid like that.

This is what I'm talking about. Regardless of the what or the how much he was betting, the simple fact that he was doing it in the first place and trying to be sneaky about it by using mom's account raises so many red character flags, and Campbell is not one to take character lightly, especially when considering Hunter is supposed to be setting an example of character and culture for his teammates as the team captain and starting QB.

It will probably be our best 5 football players…. and Iowa will lose a couple baseball players that never play.

Just preparing for the kick to the groin.
Sounds like they've got bigger issues to worry about in Iowa City right now anyway. What with the men's basketball coaches son going all road rage on pedestrians trying to cross the street.

The latest I’ve heard is bets were placed under his moms account and the location of where the bets were being placed was in Ames. In other words, Hunter was placing bets under his moms account. Don’t know yet what the bets were placed on though

If that's the case, then he may need to worry about criminal charges as much as a suspension. Falsifying your identity to login under his mom's account seems like a big deal.

That’s the part where I originally mentioned the Stark Performance Center. Some argued that it didn’t matter where the betting occurred. It very much does. The person that told me this stuff called Dekkers ”the ring leader”.
