I think I might have done this one a few years ago, but what is your favorite cover song of another artist's work? Do you have multiple?

In before someone with terrible taste in music claims to like Alien Ant Farm's cover of Smooth Criminal.

I'm actually down with Smooth Criminal via Alien Ant Farm. But Lucero covering Jawbreaker's Kiss the Bottle is my favorite.

Testifying
I'm a Believer - Monkees (Neil Diamond)
Mony Mony - Billy Idol (Tommy James) And bringing up Tommy, Tiffany's cover of I think we're alone now absolutely blows.
Take Me to the River - Talking Heads (Al Green) It just sounds like a David Byrne song.

Heard this the other day, and it was better than I thought it would be.

I'm always partial to the pop punk type covers. It's hard for me to pick favorites.

Reel Big Fish - Take on Me
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
Bracket - 867-5309/Jenny

One of mine would be "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right" by Barbara Mandrell. It was a #3 R&B hit for Luther Ingram in the early 70s. She recorded it in the late 70s and it was the second #1 from her Moods album (following "Sleeping Single In A Double Bed"). I think it's probably the best vocal she ever did, especially for an official single release. It didn't sound particularly 'country,' but had a nice easy R&B vibe as did much of her music from the 70s. The song was her biggest cross-over pop hit, reaching #31 Billboard and #26 Cashbox.
