Players transferring out is not close to being ISU WBB's primary issue. It has been an inability to recruit and sign enough B12 quality players in the first place and develop them. It all goes back to Bill refusing to make necessary staff upgrades.

IMO the hardest action to accomplish as a boss is to let go of staff that are loyal good people, but don't bring enough abilities and skills to the table anymore.

I thought the recruiting class for this season was one of the best in recent memory.

When you add the potential of Middleton at point to the class, even if for just the one year, it is has to be considered a very good class. 2017 was okay so far with Wise making a bit of a slash as a freshman. 2016 was way below average, pretty much a bust other than Camber who can shoot some threes. 2015 got us Charleton so has to be rated pretty good.

At least next year we have a PG picked. For 2019 we might be back to who plays PG again and who will in the paint without falling out of favor.

I'll say. She will be the best player on the squad next year

She definitely should make a difference. I was impressed with what I've seen of her myself. As a senior she should be one of the best on the team. Having an established, veteran point will be a big help.

Wondering if any Gophers might quit Minnesota? Marlene Strolling just interviewed for the Texas Tech job. Awkward. Not sure exactly why Tech would want her or why she would want to enter that dumpster fire but it is a possibility. Tech comes complete with the toxic Swopes and a meddling Hall of Fame coach, who would want that? Guess Strolling thinks she might be on the road to getting fired in Gopherland and wants a lifeline. Call out to our Texas WBB expert @geewago

Is Strollings the HC at Minn.? They made the NCAA's didn't think that seat would even be warm or is she just trying to leverage it into a pay raise?

The natives are restless. The fans think they should be better than they are and they all overrate all of the HS players up here and think that the Gophers would be great if only they got the right Minnesota gals. Minnesota HS is okay but has not been cranking out 5-stars that the Gophers miss out on. The best player in decades is a sophomore at Hopkins and you can bet she will be at UCONN or ND in 2020. Hell, Geno is already here watching her, not his assistants, Geno himself.

On the other hand, it should be a better program than it currently is. Their volleyball and hockey teams are top tier programs and the WBB fans here want that in hoops also. I don't blame them. They do have good attendance and fan interest, way better than most Big 10 schools. They have new practice ands sports support facilities and the old Barn can be a special venue to watch hoops.

Well that all sounds pretty familiar, except ISU has been in 5 yr slump of no post season wins until getting a win in the conference tourney finally this yr.

I have not heard a single credible word about Marsha Sharp in this regard; just wondering where do you get this?

I think the combination of losing Carlie Wagner next season and he uncertainty of the job drives this. Since Maturi who hired her is already gone, there is no guarantee she’ll get an extension - she hasn’t lit the world on fire yet.

In all fairness it isn't like Minnesota has a lot of in state competition for recruits.

Have you paid attention to results lately? Results trump rankings every time. The results with the current staff have obviously dipped. Bill isn't going anywhere so if he wants improvement, he needs to make overdue staff upgrades. The incoming recruiting class does look good on paper as did some of the others in the prior past 5 to 7 years.

You are the one pointing out poor recruiting. And obviously they are recruiting rather well. You are overselling the results versus recruiting thing big time. We've had TWO straight highly ranked recruiting classes. A near complete miss the year before with only one player (Camber) emerging as a significant contributor in the lineup. We've pulled in 1 or 2 good players per year up until this past season and the current incoming class (although still unknown how the transition will work). Now if you want to talk results versus recruiting that's an entirely different conversation. I just responded to your recruiting comment.

Texas Tech has painted themselves in a corner it seems. Everybody they've offered turns them down so far. It looks like it may come down to whoever will take it. Yes Swoopes is there and she's a legend in Lubbock but her coaching career was somewhat tainted. IMO whoever they hire should retain coach Shimmy as an assistant. And yes Marsha still has quite a bit of connection to the program.. A couple of friends tell me that's part of the problem too.

THE LATEST: as of 7:59 April 5th is that sources at Tech are saying that Strolling has been hired and that all assistant coaches are gone. This should be confirmed by morning I would think. However they have already un-officially announced the hiring of two other coaches but it fell through,
