Just watch WHOTV13 news and they are talking about some major flooding going on up in Ames so I thought I would come on to see what's being said and there are no threads. Maybe you all are out sandbagging.

Crazy weather

I have yet to leave my place today. Got the day off. Plan to head to the MU for lunch in a while, but other than that, this is what we call a Bum Day.

PS--I'm a little peeved that they have closed half of S 4th St between Duff and East HyVee---that was my shortcut to avoid traffic in this town! Hopefully this extension their doing gets down quick!

Just got back from the Rec. When we got there, there was about 3 feet of water in the parking lots, about an hour into my workout, they shut the place down because it started to flood. The water was rising very fast and the entire rec is now surrounded with water, sandbags are being put up, but water is slowing leaking into the building. I would say at least 4 feet of water now in the parking lots.

Also, all of the intramural fields are flooded with about 4-5 feet of water.
So far, JT and Hilton are dry.

All 4 lanes of South Duff are currently closed in Ames.

I just finished working out at the South Ames Racquet & Fitness at around 11:30 and came up Duff. There's a rental car place on the west side of Duff near the bowling alley and they had employees in boots hauling stuff out of their store. At that time water was just coming onto Duff forcing southbound traffic into the center lane. The KCCI news I heard about lightning possibly hitting an apartment complex not too far from where I live.

Wow I just saw the aerial shot from Chopper 13 and the Walmart on Duff is surrounded by water.

Watching the same report on channel 13, did you see where they zoom in on the salvage yard south of the new Walmart and showing all the oil, gas and other vehicle fluids flowing south of the salvage yard to the creek.

Paging all DNR officers.....Thanks TV13 from the salvage yard.

I think they are calling for more rain sunday night through monday. But the rest of today, saturday and sunday morning/afternoon should be dry.

This is the golf course, and the storm drain that goes under Stange.
