AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball team signed a pair of high school seniors and a junior college sophomore to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, head coach Bill Fennelly announced. Hallie Chistofferson, a senior from Exira, is an instate addition to the Cyclone roster for 2010-11. Kelsey Harris is a guard from California and Lauren Mansfield is a sophomore at Midland (Texas) College but is originally from Adelaide, Australia.

“We signed a large class last year and we anticipate doing the same for the 2011 class, so this year we were focused on some specific needs for our program,†Fennelly said.

Christofferson, a 6-3 forward, has accumulated 1,542 career points for an average of 21.4 points per game in her first three prep seasons for Exira. She has also pulled down 911 career rebounds for an average of 12.7 rpg. Last season Christofferson shot 66.8 percent from the field while averaging 26.3 points per game. She also posted 98 steals and 69 blocked shots as a junior. She posted career highs of 40 points and 21 rebounds in a game vs. Creston-Orient-Macksburg. She was named to the All-State First Team by the Des Moines Register, the Iowa Newspaper Association and the Omaha World Herald following the 2008-09 campaign. She has been named to an all-state squad in each of her three prep seasons, including earning first-team honors as a sophomore and junior.

In her sophomore season, the Vikettes made a return to the Iowa state tournament for the first time since 1965, after a 19-game winning streak. Christofferson led Exira with 24 points and 12 rebounds in a first-round loss. In her junior campaign, the Vikettes went 19-0 before falling to Coon Rapids-Bayard in the second round of the regional tournament. She has been named to the Rolling Hills All-Conference First Team in each of the last three seasons and was an Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Region honoree in 2008 and 2009.

The Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked Christofferson as the 53rd overall recruit in the 2010 class and the No. 4 recruit at the power forward position. Her sister, Britta, is a junior thrower on the Iowa State track and field team.

“Hallie is someone we have been recruiting for over three years,†Fennelly said. “She is the best player in the 2010 class in the state of Iowa. At Iowa State we have always wanted to bring the best kids in the state into the Cyclone family. There is no question that Hallie is extremely skilled and can play a variety of spots. She is from a family that has ties to Iowa State and we are so excited that Hallie will continue the Cyclone legacy.â€

Mansfield, a 5-7 guard, is a true point guard with outstanding three-point shooting ability. In her first season at Midland College, she shot a stellar 48 percent from beyond the arc while leading the Lady Chaps to a 30-2 overall record. She led the squad with 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game as a freshman and was named a Western Junior College Athletic Conference All-League honoree and was voted as the team’s most valuable player.
