My perspective isn’t great, so I’m not sure if this is “under the radar” or not, but “Inside Llewyn Davis”:

It and “A Serious Man” are my favorite Coen Brothers movies.

This one is loosely based on Dave Von Ronk and Ulysses/The Odyssey.

It gets bonus points for what would have been an absolutely brutal recapitulation of one of the film’s central themes as a jab at the Star Wars franchise if it hadn’t come out before Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac were in those movies.

For that matter; “A Serious Man”:

Inside Llewyn Davis is definitely one that is brilliant but not appreciated. Top five Coen in my opinion. Good pull with that one.

I’m always looking for movies people love but maybe flew under the radar for the masses. Any suggestions? I have a lot and notice many are from the 90s. Oh well hah.

Bound. One hell of a fun crime/mafia thriller.

Flirting with Disaster. Honestly one the best comedies ever. ******* hilarious and the cast is insane. I won’t link the trailer because it is so cheesy. Movie is great.

October Sky. True story. Great coming of age story. Cry ever time.

Hachi. Another true story. If you have a dog have a box or two of Kleenex.

Sunshine. One of the best sci-fi thrillers of the last 25 years. Again the cast is stellar and directed by the great Danny Boyle.

Hostiles. One of the worst marketing campaigns ever. This is possible my favorite western movie ever made and my favorite movie the year this came out. Again. The cast is amazing.

Good call on "Flirting With Disaster."

It should appeal to viewers who like "Meet the Parents" (which was released ~4 years later), it has some of the same "mistaken situation/arc/character" elements. Not sure I'm describing that properly.

Song of the Sea actually got a few tears out of me. Both me and my 9 year old watched it together a couuple of years ago and absolutely loved it. If you liked it, it is the second movie by the same studio that did Secret of Kells and then Wolfwalkers, which are both just as equally amazing.
I cry every time, and watched it (and The Secret of Kells) first with my daughter too.

I’ve not seen Wolfwalkers, but will check it out. Thanks!

Three of my favorite, lesser known movies.

I love Big Fish. I didn't see it until like 10 years after it came out, but that moment of him moving the popcorn aside in the trailer for some reason has stuck with me. Ewan McGregor is great in it and the father son dynamic is so well portrayed.

I read the book it was based on, and would not recommend it. Burton did a great job adapting and changing the book into a better overall narrative.

It’s just so diabolically stupid funny. The script is just hilarious. The last part with the LSD tablets and everything goes crazy is just classic.

Eerie to watch this movie sometimes with current events the last several years.

A good movie version of Custer’s Last Stand, but weird to see Bill Lumburgh playing George Custer
