Being in a Russian Film Study class this semester has really opened my eyes on Foreign Films. My favorites of the Semester have been

Moscow Doesn't Believe In Tears
Russian Ark (A movie with NO CUTS. Seriously they did a two hour movie without stopping the camera)
The Italian
The Barber of Siberia
Ivan Vasilievich Changes His Occupation

They are all actually fantastic movies and from Russia no less!

So what are your favorite foreign films?

7 Seas of Rhye
The Motorcycle Diaries

My cousin, who grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, had me watch this when she was teaching me Spanish - I learned a lot of this language and also got a lot out of the movie...Great movie.

City of God - Might be my favorite movie of all-time, and certainly has my favorite protagonist of all-time in Knockout Ned.

LA LA Land
mostly Italian…Cinema Paradiso, Il Postino, Malena, 8 1/2, La Dolce Vita

but also some bizarre Japanese/asian stuff like The Audition and Old Boy

Others noted the mind bloCity of God and some of the Miyazaki animated films that I love too. Nausicaa is less well known here than it is in Japan, but probably my favorite Miyazaki.
