Does anyone remember being in the test market a few years back for the Arby's gyro? I fell in love with gyros while at ISU, so of course had to try this out right away. It was quite possibly one of the most hideous things I've ever eaten.

Imagine Arbys roast beef, rolled in DRY herbs and seasoning...it was actually crunchy. I have no idea if they ever put that thing out on the regular menu, or if they realized they had a problem and changed it...I wasn't about to take the chance on a second try.

I was tempted to try one, because a good gyro is one of the best foods on earth. I did not try one, because Arbys roast beef is one of the worst foods on earth.

I'm comfortable with my decision.

If I recall correctly, the McDonalds that used to be on Welch was one of their test franchises. They consistently had menu items that you couldn't get in a lot of other locations. I remember going there once and seeing a McBacon on the menu. Never saw it before or since.

I also remember roadtripping through Illinois when I was in college and stopping at a McDonalds that had a breakfast buffet. I'd never seen one of those before either. $3.99 all you can eat. It was great.

I could go for that buffet...and a McBacon.

You could get those in Iowa also.

Cool. I didn't know how far out they offered those. I didn't think it was national though.

ROFL, the arch deluxe. Totally forgot about that one. It's hard to believe almost any of these made it passed an executive meeting. McLobster, really? They thought they could make money off that?

A McDonald's buffet does seem great, but I would be eating there wwaaayy too often if I had one of those close by

Speaking of short lived McDonalds promotions, does anyone remember the "Puck Pack," named after Kirby Puckett? It was a value meal that featured a cheese lover's quarter pounder, fries, and some special kind of milkshake. I can't remember what kind exactly. Seems appropriate that Kirby Puckett would be attached to a 4000 calorie value meal.

THREAD BUMP!!!

It wasn't a milkshake, it was a chocolate ice cream sundae with hot fudge, and peanuts, and it was awesome!!! They should of offered it nationwide.

My fiancée didn't believe me this was a thing. I Googled it, and this CycloneFantic thread was one of the top results!

McDonald's has had a ton of experimental items. I stumbled upon this YouTube video during a recent browsing.

I don't think they're actual gyros, I think they just take their roast beef and add greek seasoning to it. But I've had them before and they do meet the crave if you have it.

Does Sonic still have the peanut butter and bacon shake? I never had one, but that feels like it belongs on this list.

I was in Quebec City a few years ago and the McDonalds there had poutine on the menu. I don't know if they were in all of the McDonalds in Canada or just in Quebec.
