Any "Fail" list that includes the McDLT loses all credibility. Who could not appreciate the amount of styrofoam in that packaging? Greatest fast food product ever. Except possible for the McLobster, which I have not yet had the pleasure of enjoying.

Speaking of short lived McDonalds promotions, does anyone remember the "Puck Pack," named after Kirby Puckett? It was a value meal that featured a cheese lover's quarter pounder, fries, and some special kind of milkshake. I can't remember what kind exactly. Seems appropriate that Kirby Puckett would be attached to a 4000 calorie value meal.

How about Cyclone Fries? McDonalds in Ames used to just fill up a bag of fries when you ordered this. I used to get it every once in a while and man was it good, but quite possibly the worst possible food for your health.

That reminds me of the buckets of fries that mcdonalds used to have.

Going the opposite direction, i miss KFC chicken littles. Closest thing out there might be the little chicken sandwiches at white castle.. but none of that here.

I think the new leaders in the "gimmicks" to sell product are Pizza Hut and Coors. Pizza Hut has a new pizza of some sort every other week. Coors has such innovations as vented cans and blue mountains to tell you when the beer is cold.

Agreed. I don't like restraunts who think they need to serve everything under the sun in order to attract more business.

dozens of pizzas, pasta, wings, buffet, salad bar, bread sticks... on and on. Variety is nice, but be reasonable.

Exactly. I wonder what 'the hut' could do if they put the effort into making their pizza better like dominos did, instead of putting the effort into random gimmicks.

Those were awesome. It was like 3 huge scoops of fries for 1.99. Like the equivalent of 2.5 super size fries.

In the early 90s in Chicago we had the McJordan Special. It was a quarter pounder with barbeque sauce and bacon. Very good.

How could they include the Wendy's Superbar as a bad idea? That was the best deal ever...my family ate there about every other Sunday

Wendy's was always my mother's favorite fast food place, but there wasn't one in our area. When we would go shopping in the "big city" (Mason City), when I was a kid, she would take us to Wnedy's. Had the super bar a few times. I remember it being good. But I was 9 years old, so what did I know?

Yeah I suppose I was in like 3rd-5th grade when we went all the time, but remember it being pretty good. I always thought it would be cool to put out burgers and fries for a buffet at a place like Wendys :)

I remember when Hardee's in North Grand Mall had the burger topping bar thing, I liked that.

I worked at a hardees in the 80s, so they pretty much just copied everyone else. They had pizzas back then, they were terrible and a pain in the butt to make.

They also made a knockoff big Mac, the secret sauce was 1/2 thousand island and 1/2 mayo. It was nasty.

Does anyone remember being in the test market a few years back for the Arby's gyro? I fell in love with gyros while at ISU, so of course had to try this out right away. It was quite possibly one of the most hideous things I've ever eaten.

Imagine Arbys roast beef, rolled in DRY herbs and seasoning...it was actually crunchy. I have no idea if they ever put that thing out on the regular menu, or if they realized they had a problem and changed it...I wasn't about to take the chance on a second try.

Those were great with a sixer of Bud Dry.
