I can't comprehend the KSU love. They were a solid team this year and have some good players. But they were nothing special and they trade a very good coach for a very average coach.

Somewhat following Illinois basketball the last decade of living in the state...KSU's talent level is about to take a dip. Within a year or two the talent differential between KSU and Hoiball will be staggering.

I like Webber as a person and think he can coach, but he couldn't get the players he needed to what should be a top 20 recruiting school, he's definitely not going to get them to Kansas State.

Don't really understand the KSU hate. Sure Weber is a ? but they have their whole team returning. They were right around the 25-30 mark last year, so its pretty reasonable that they will be around that area next season as well.

Like last season we are a team filled with a bunch of ?'s going into the season. Will Clyburn's game translate to the Big 12? Who else scores? Who becomes the leader? To us these questions are fairly clear but to the media it probably looks like a big gamble to put ISU in there.

313-155 with an NCAA final within the last 10 years is an average coach?

#newstome

Holy misleading time frames Batman. In case you haven't noticed, he took over for a pretty decent coach, a coach who has since absolutely dominated our own conference.

How has he done the last five years at a school that's traditionally easy to recruit to? Pretty sure the win 5 would take a significant dip.

So you want to pick and choose the years on his record? ooooookie dokie.

Judge a coach on his body of work...the guy has won everywhere hes gone, and gotten illinois to a national title.

20+ games in 7 of his 9 years, 2nd or better in the conference almost half those years.

Is he an ELITE coach? No.....but hes certainly a very good coach.

If you want to play that game, he finished 9th in 2 of his last 5 seasons. After self's players were gone he never got past the second round (and only made it there 2 of his last 7 seasons).

He got to that Final wth Self's kids. Every year since then has been a drop off from the previous season. He had trouble recruiting to Illinois, Kansas State is going to be a tough sell for him.

I like the guy and I actually think he's a good Xs and Os coach, but a program like Illinois never should have fallen to where it was. It's proximity to Chicago should have been all he needed to put at least NCAA at large teams together every year.

With that NCAA final, how many of the starters were his recruits? His record is a farce...He was on a slippery slope the day deron williams, dee brown, and luther head left Champaign....

Being an Illinois fan myself, having followed them in that time period and before, yes--he is an average coach.

And I was once ridiculed for using the twitter # in a post on here. Is it cool to do it now? #justwondering

2008–09 Illinois 24–10 11–7 T–2nd NCAA 1st Round
2009–10 Illinois 21–15 10–8 5th NIT Quarterfinals
2010–11 Illinois 20–14 9–9 T–4th NCAA 2nd Round
2011–12 Illinois 17–15 6–12 9th

If you are going to blast the guy for recent performance...at least be factual. 20 wins in 3 out of the last 4 with 2 NCAA appearances. Us ISU fans are really going to snub our nose at those results? Really.

Again....solid, very good coach....not elite...but a good coach.

20 wins isnt all that much of an accomplishment anymore, and especially not at a school like illinois.

You should go to an Illinois board and ask the fans there what they think of Bruce.

In what universe is it "picking and choosing" to say that the the 6-10 years ago with Bill Self's recruits is less significant to the last five years with his own recruits? I'd think of that more as common sense than picking and choosing.

If you read my post you would see I actually like him as a person and think he's a very good game day coach, but his downfall at Illinois will be even more of a challenge at KSU.

Holy god knuckleheads......all i was arguing is that the guy isnt a medicore or average coach. And if 20 wins wasnt much of an accomplishment.....maybe ISU would have had more than 2 since the last time Webber was a in a champ game. Yep...we've had 2 20 win seasons since 2002.
I dont need to check with a fan base of what they think of a coach....(See Iowa expectations)

How much Illinois basketball have you watched in the last 10 years, knucklehead?
