Just heard it. "Number 1 recruit Harrison Barnes signs with North Carolina after also considering Duke, UCLA and others." Good to know we're in the "others" category. We need to make a statement nationally this year so at least when we lose out on the next hot-shot recruit we get mentioned as a bride's maid.

Maybe because Ames is HB's hometown? Would've been a compelling story. Or at least an interesting lead ... "HB spurns the hometown Cyclones to sign with the Tarbabies..."

You're assuming modern day reporters are smart enough to see an interesting angle and write about it.

ESPN will not like us until Vitale is dead and Fran is ESPN's b-ball guru.

We should be happy with "others".

That means that Kansas and Oklahoma is also in the other category

Yeah, the NC from 2 years ago and the team last year's POY came from. Not too shabby really.

Maybe HB did us a favor be keeping us in it until the end :jimlad:

Then you ought to be the first to realize ESPN doesn't owe ISU any "love."

Yeah, ironic that you need all the english classes, have to pass the english usage test, basically to learn how to write at an 8th grade level.

That's so Hawkeye fans can grasp what you're writing.

Who said anything about ESPN owing us anything? Just said they missed an interesting angle. Perhaps I need to write at a third grade level?

Would have been funny if the bottom line ticker on ESPN had said something like:

"Barnes picks UNC over Duke, Kansas, UCLA and others (not including Iowa State)"

Blame Barnes not ESPN. They are just the messenger... Barnes was the one that didn't show us any love.

True...had they attempted to mention Iowa State, they likely would have called us Iowa or Illinois State anyway.

What bothered me was how ESPN mentioned the five other teams on the bottom ticker and not us. Then once they began the live feed, they cut the Iowa State logo out of the picture. All of the other schools were shown except ours. Why do that?

At one point they had all six logos in the shot and it seemed the camera purposely zoomed in and panned to the right in order to cut the ISU logo out of the shot.

at one point in the espnu broadcast they listed all teams except us. ESPN shows no ISU positives other than CPR's speech, but a coach picks up a Natty Light and they are here in no time.
