Yeah they introduced them but not enough story to give a ****. Barry Allen was close to a decent background with his dad but still fell short. It seemed very much like Suicide Squad with tiny intros but literally nothing about who they are, past struggles and motivations. I get they want to save some for their own movies but DC continues to suffer regarding character development.

I saw JL with the kids last weekend and I really enjoyed it. It's a popcorn movie and I know it going in so I try to enjoy it in that manner and not pick it apart.

I do feel like DC movies are a little behind the eight ball with fans for a couple reasons. First, the combined cinematic DC universe getting started in earnest as late as it does, sort of feels like a copycat to the successful work done by Marvel with their Avengers series, fair or not. Second, previous stand alone DC movies, like the Superman films from the 70's and the Nolan Batman films, are so deeply embedded into the consciousness of movie lovers that it is inevitable that comparisons and departures from those iconic films make for a tricky minefield for screenwriters and actors.

But I think that done correctly, people can get beyond that stuff. The Tim Burton Batman movies played up the comic book aspect of the characters and people had mixed opinions on it. When the Dark Knight movies premiered, everyone forgot about them forever. A new standard was set. Where Brandon Routh flopped as Superman for trying to mimic Christopher Reeve, Man of Steel delivers something much more original and appealing. I think this can be achieved for the Justice League as well.

Sounds like Suicide Squad 2 is still a thing, and will begin production in October 2018, which is kind of confusing since Margot Robbie has been quoted earlier this month saying that she has been working on a "Harley Quinn" movie, that is separate from Suicide Squad, Gotham City Sirens and the Joker/Harley Quinn team-up film.

DC's plans are obviously a complete mess. For once, I'd like them to focus less on announcing a bazillion movies they plan on making and rather focus a bit more on actually getting a movie in production. Its borderline a joke. For example, for all their movies they've announced, we are only getting one DC movie in all of 2019, which is Aquaman.

I'm really struggling to figure out if there is a market for a Harley Quinn movie, a Gotham City sirens movie or a Joker/Harley Quinn team-up film. I can't say any of those sound interesting to me at all.

I feel like the "super hero burnout" is already somewhat upon us. DC nailed it with the Dark Knight trilogy, but have really struggled to find an identity lately (I did like Justice League more than other, though). They don't want to be compared to Marvel, but when they are on the other side of the theater from them and making more money, it's gonna happen. The MCU seems to have come in with a plan and has stuck with it. Not all have been winners, but they don't let that bleed into other projects.

DC just needs to stick with what works for their characters and write to their strengths. I'd like them to really ask themselves if they are making a movie to "keep up" with the MCU or if they are making a movie that fans are really asking for. I really want to see them bounce back. Forcing more Harley Quinn on us seems like a poor way to accomplish that, though.

Wowsers, just when everyone was almost positive Ben Affleck was done with playing Batman, he then goes off and says this. Shoot, he even talks about potentially still directing a Batman movie. Its hard to know what goes on behind the scenes at Warner Bros anymore. Whatever it is, it seems like a complete mess most of the time.

Working my way through The Punisher right now. Spectacular by the way. With that said, an actor named Ben Barnes plays Billy Russo in that series and he is awesome in it. However, seeing him act got me thinking that this dude could be an amazing Batman. He is currently about 37 years old, which is a good age too. Anyone else have any thoughts on this???

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/dc_f...president-of-dc-based-film-production-a156752

Well, it looks like Warner Bros has found Jon Berg's replacement as new president of DC based film production (FYI: Kind of the Kevin Feige role). Looks like Geoff Johns will still essential remain the sidekick of this new head as chief creative officer of DC Entertainment. As you can see, unlike Marvel, DC has chosen to have almost two heads of the division rather than one. So far, it hasn't exactly worked out great. However, DC movies never really had even this leadership structure until partway into Justice League production. Therefore, it is hard to exactly tell what damage was done by Jon Berg/Geoff Johns or what damage was already done that they were simply trying to mitigate. Ultimately, these movies are long processes that take quite a while to see a new change in leadership's full effect.

Best Buy is advertising the Justice League Blu-Ray will go on sale March 13. No other retailer (Target, Amazon, WalMart, etc) is stating the same.

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Justice-League-Blu-ray/196235/

The digital release of Justice League is being reported as Feb 13 and usually the disc-based release typically comes out 2 weeks after the digital release, which is why Best Buy's release date looks a little off to me.

http://www.blu-ray.com/itunes/Justice-League-iTunes/92303/

For comparison, Thor: Ragnarok digital release is Feb 20 and the disc-based edition comes out 2 weeks later (March 6)
