Diana of Themiscyra has taken her place at the top of DC’s movie trinity—at least, at the US domestic box office. This morning, Wonder Woman officially topped Batman v Superman for the highest domestic box office within the DCEU, and even did so like it was possessed by the speedforce itself.

Bringing in $2.68 million in the US last night brought Wonder Woman’s domestic box office total to bring it a total of $330.5 million after just 28 days in US theaters. Previous title holder Batman v Superman raked in $330.3 million, but that was after 84 days at the box office.

The wife and I saw Wonder Woman on Saturday night. To let you know how big of a deal it is to get us to see a movie in theaters - the last movie we saw in theaters was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We both thought the movie was excellent. Great opening third to introduce Wonder Woman. My favorite part of comicbook movies has always been the "superhero reveal" scene - the first time the citizens of the world gets to see the title superhero. The scene where Wonder Woman pulls herself out of the trench and strides across the battlefield was one of the best instances of that I can remember - putting it up there with the iconic Superman scene where he grabs Lois Lane and the helicopter (The "You've got me? Whose got you??" scene) - this would be a good list topic, Triggermv. I felt the villain was a bit too obvious as was the reveal of the "god-killer" but that didn't detract from enjoyment in the slightest. Gal Gadot was perfectly cast and Chris Pine was great as well. DC scored a big time winner with this movie franchise and I can't wait for the next Wonder Woman film. I'm not expecting Justice League to be better than Wonder Woman, but I am hoping it can be just as entertaining.

Work is dead today, so here are my Top 5 favorite super hero "reveal" moments from the DC live-action films. These are moments where the title hero (or heroine) commits their first heroic act in costume.

5. V for Vendetta - V rescues Evie in the alley. The action is kind of ho-hum compared to other comicbook films, but we get the impression that V really is just an average guy (with above-average strength/reflexes), and that monologue is one of the more memorable moments of the movie.

4. The Dark Knight Rises - Batman chases Bane's gang/evades Gotham PD. This is a bit of a cop-out as the true reveal of this franchise appears next on my list. I just rewatched this movie over the weekend and forgot how great of a film this is. Batman had been in hiding up until this moment, so I'll consider this his "reintroduction" to the citizens of Gotham

3. Batman Begins - Batman on the docks. This scene has it all: Batarangs. Hanging upside. Fights a group of armed criminals with his bare hands. Most importantly, utters those famous words "I'm Batman."

2. Wonder Woman - No Man's Land/The Trenches. As I look for clips from this scene, I realize that of course the soldiers would have referred to this area as "No Man's Land" in the film. Wonder Woman progresses more in mere minutes than an army could in the span of a year. Simply perfect.

1. Superman the Movie - Lois Lane rescue and catching the Daily Planet helicopter. The perfect balance of sheer panic from Lois and the bystanders below and utter calmness of Clark Kent/Superman. Clark comes out of the building completely unaware of everyone going crazy. Even the jokes hit the mark when Clark finds a "modern" phone booth that he can't possibly change in to. He catches Lois, and easily hoists the helicopter with his other hand.

Warner Bros is apparently eyeing Jaume Collet-Serra to direct the Suicide Squad sequel. He has directed films like The Shallows and the 2005 remake of House of Wax. He was attached to direct the live-action adaptation of Akira a few years ago and he has also previously worked with Joel Kinnaman (who played Rick Flag in Suicide Squad). I would be pretty underwhelmed if this was the next director, seeing as how names like Mel Gibson, Sam Raimi and Robert Zemekis were being tossed around a few months ago.

Not that I hate the idea, but I'm also kind of meh on the idea. The only movie I've seen of his was The Shallows, which I thought just decent, but not great.

The Batman stand-alone film is getting a complete rewrite and Affleck's original script (that was co-written by Geoff Johns) will not be referenced at all. Don't know if that means Deathstroke (they have already cast Joe Manganello for the role) will still be the villain in the movie.

Here is a recent quote from director Matt Reeves about the tone he is looking for in the new Batman movie:

“One of the reasons I was drawn to it is I had a similar fascination to Batman when I was younger that I had with the Apes series, which I was obsessed with. I see a parallel emotionally between Caesar and Batman, in that they’re both characters who are tortured and trying to sort of grapple within themselves to find the way to do the right thing in a very imperfect and, to some degree, corrupt world. It’s really that emotionality that I’m interested in.

“In all of my films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character, and you emphasize with that point of view. I think there’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that hopefully is going to connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”

Gonna be lots of news rolling in over the next few days with San Diego Comic-Con officially rolling. With that said, Hot Toys just revealed their Justice League Superman figure, which is really only notable for how brightened they've changed his suit now. I have no doubt this is just one small change WBs has made in an attempt to lighten and brighten up their universe some.

I get why they are doing a Suicide Squad sequel but will anyone over the age of 13 really think it will be remotely good? I would rather wait about 5 years and do a hard reboot and do a movie that makes sense.

If he does drop out would you prefer they recast Batman or kill of Affleck and have someone take over as Batman?

As much as I hate to say it, I'd rather they just recast. Ultimately, it is way too early in this universe to lose Bruce Wayne as Batman in my mind. Way down the road, sure, I'm okay with someone like Nightwing taking over, but not now.

Of all their announced movies, I still have ZERO desire to see a Suicide Squad sequel. I get that the first one made a lot of money still purely due to its flash and new character creation, but the movie overall was terrible and left nothing but a bad taste in most people's mouth of all flash, no substance. Clearly just a money-grab is all by going for a sequel, especially so soon. In my mind, big picture is to create a wonderful DC expansive shared universe, similar to Marvel's over time and they wanna waste their time and effort on stupid Suicide Squad movies??? Can't we all think of about 40 different DC movies all of us want to see over a Suicide Squad sequel??? Shoot, that doesn't mean you can't reuse some of the Squad characters. Just reuse them in a different movie environment is all. Again, so so stupid and clearly all about the dollars.

http://screenrant.com/wonder-woman-movie-charlize-theron/

Interesting that Charlize Theron had passed on a role in Wonder Woman. I'm sure I'm completely on my own on this one, but Charlize Theron has always been one of those actresses that I think is completely overrated in my mind. This is why Atomic Blonde looks completely stupid to me. Not that she isn't a good actress, because she is, but I just don't really like her is all. Scarlett Johannsson is probably the other one in my mind that I'm not the biggest fan of, even though I've grown to love her in the Black Widow role. I've also just never understood the attractiveness of either too, and also find other actresses out there as better suited for female action roles, even though we always keep coming back to these two women for the roles. Shoot, Scarlett admitted prior to being Black Widow that she had never worked out in her life ONCE. I mean seriously?? There are many other fit, strong, bad bad women out there than these two. Lets broaden our scopes. I'm sure this is blasphemous to many people, and I get it. I guess to each their own. Also, I'm sure everyone out there has their own list of overrated actors/actresses that they don't like too for one reason or another. With that said, I'm perfectly okay with Charlize staying out of the superhero genre. Find by me.

Well, it apparently looks like Shazam will be one of those two new mystery DCEU release dates for WB. Looks like they are starting production soon. With them starting so soon, it will be interesting to see if they announce who will be playing the role of Shazam at their SDCC panel. Also, The Rock will not be in this new Shazam movie, but will rather have his own film where he appears.

http://screenrant.com/harley-quinn-vs-joker-movie-spinoff/

Now, word is that there will be an upcoming Harley Quinn vs the Joker spinoff movie in the DCEU. Just when I thought the DCEU was going a little too villain-crazy with their movies after doing Suicide Squad, announcing a sequel, then adding a Gotham City Sirens movie, they then go ahead and announce yet another one. Especially, when the one they did do so far wasn't any good. Man, add on top of these the villain craze Sony has announced on top of the recent Doctor Doom movie talk, I mean what the crap??? Seems like a pretty strong reaction to one crappy villain movie test case (Suicide Squad) that still under performed to what it should have at the box office. Again, I'm disappointed that I'm getting villain movies of villains I do love to see as I am disappointed that these essentially end up replacing other non-villain movies I really do want to see.

The thing is, while that movie was terribly received by critics it still made more money than Man of Steel. In fact, Suicide Squad ranks #15 in the box office rankings for "Superhero" movies and BvS ranks #14. I'm not a fan of the "darker/edgier" tone the DCEU films take place in, but WBs failed hard when they went the opposite route (Superman Returns and Green Lantern). There is a desire from audiences to see the DCEU films, even if every critic is saying that these are bad movies.
