I can always find what I need at Fareway. My produce doesn't spoil immediately like it does elsewhere (Hy-Vee). The hot sauce that my kid likes costs $3.34 less a bottle at Fareway than our Hy-Vee, I just find that absurd. And I am not made of money, can't shop at Dahl's. Sadly, I have to travel 20 miles each way to shop at Fareway and usually find that I still save tons of money over Hy-Vee, even accounting for gas mileage. I don't make the trip when the weather is bad. Went into Hy-Vee on Feb. 14 to buy a gallon of milk. I had to crawl on the floor and remove 17 gallons before I found one that did not expire on Feb. 15. Woman down the aisle was complaining because all of the sale yogurt had already expired. Other Hy-Vee stores have to be better than ours because they wouldn't be doing such booming business otherwise. They took away drive up groceries and never plow the lot, so I had to help a woman in her eighties who got her walker stuck in the snow last week trying to take out her groceries.![]()
You must have a bad hy-vee because I've never heard of someone preferring Fareway produce to Hy-Vee. Most Hy-vee's do so much business that you don't even have to worry about items expiring.
