Seems to be some rumors out there that Dahl's is close to shutting it's doors? Any insider info on CF?

No insider info for me but this wouldn't surprise me at all. I recently went to Dahls on E.P. True and it was a ghost town in there. Their prices were pretty steep as well even when compared to other similar stores like Hy Vee

I frankly don't know how the one in North Ames has stayed open this long. Place is almost always dead when I am in there, which honestly isn't often.

I've only really ever been to the one in Ames, but it's a **** hole and nobody is ever there. Their store brands are awful and they're super expensive on everything, even more than Hy-Vee I think. Only reason I ever go there is because I'm either too lazy to go to Aldi or it's Sunday and Fareway is closed.

I sometimes go to the one on 86th in Johnston because it's close and it's always empty. I'm afraid to buy things there because of expiration dates.

Went into the Dahl's on 86th and Hickman Saturday morning about 11:00. Only one checker for the whole store.

The only Dahl's I've ever been too was the one in north Ankeny. It is always dead and WAY more expensive that Fareway.

As someone else said I've only gone there because Fareway was closed on a Sunday. They had good produce and meat but it's not worth the extra cost of the rest of the store.

My wife and I have always wondered how Dahl's kept the lights on at certain stores as there is never anyone there.

I participate in a pool league and I've gotten to know a couple of guys on the league that are night managers at Dahl's. Both have said they are actively trying to get new jobs before Dahl's closes down. So I am thinking this is going to happen soon.

I want to say i remember someone on another board saying something about a possible buyout of dahls by Kroger several months ago. If its closing maybe that was something they were seeking because they were near going under

Less competition isnt a good thing though.

The two closest grocery stores to my neighborhood are both Dahl's and I HATE shopping there. Unless it's picking up something quick on my way home from work I'll drive further out to the Hy-Vee, but I really wish I had a closer option. I would be excited if a less ****** chain ending up buying them out or swooping in to those locations after Dahl's goes out of business.

The only good thing about Dahl's are the Mercy Quick Care centers. Nice perk if you just need to be seen for something minor like a sinus infection without making an appointment.

The Dahl's in Waukee used to be busy. Then the Hy-Vee opened up. Driving by Hy-Vee's lots were packed all the way to the back. And the Dahl's lots were only packed in the back of their lots where their employees park, the rest of the lot was basically empty.

I'm actually amazed Dahls has lasted this long. I can't remember the last time I ever walked into one of those and it was even remotely busy. Didn't matter which location either. Way too expensive too.

As others have stated, if your prices are higher than Hy-Vee, you are gouging the customer. They sell things like Yellow Tail wine at $15/bottle. No place anywhere sells that kind of wine for more than $10.

I have heard the rumor of the Ankeny Dahl's closing for a couple of months now. Also heard that it may become a new library? Not sure of the accuracy of that though.
