THURSDAY'S FINAL SCORES Tyrese Haliburton leads the way for the @Pacers as they record franchise records in PTS and 3PM in a game! Myles Turner: 17 PTS, 5 REB, 4 3PM Jarace Walker: 16 PTS, 5 REB, 5 AST, 4 3PM
I was banned last month for public menace but wow what a month for Tyrese and the Pacers.
- They are just a better, deeper and healthier team than last year.
- Tyrese's last few months have been the best of his career.
- He will never be a good defender in the paint but his perimeter defense has really picked up creating a lot of easy points and assists.
- If you watch the actual full game his performances are often greater than his stats. The other night I think he had 19 points but his team was down late and he scored 7 points and had an assist for an easy three in four posessions to come from behind and win game late quite easily. Just 10 instant points when his team was down to give them a comfortable win.
I'm not sure if he's finally healthy or if he gained some motivation by missing all star game, but really he's back to a top 10-15 player in the world and top 5-10 type of American born player.
I was watching this live and from the way he's facing away from the basket it's actually kind of an efficient way to pass the ball (provided one has world class skill). It would have been an awkward angle to throw a traditional ally oop passing the ball over his head.
I'm not surprised at all by this stat that he has the most 20pt-10ast-0TO games ever in a season. He's been hovering around 3rd or 4th in league in assists since he caught fire after All Star game (for the whole season, I'm guessing he might be #1 over past couple months) and the other guys in the top 5 all create a lot of turnovers...with Jokic it doesn't matter because he's top 3 in practically every stat but some of those other players are just not as efficient offensively as Tyrese.
Prime example is Trae Young is leading league with 2 more assists per game, but he's averaging 3 more turnovers a game. He's scoring 4 more points a game but shooting 43% FG to Ty's 48%. Just overall a less efficient player than Haliburton.
Haliburton ends up 3rd in assists. Joker in front of him with possibly greatest season stat line in nba history. Trae Young in front of both but in a dramatically less efficient style of play,
Season long stats slightly down from last year but it was all from first third of season, less injury issues. Team in 4th and might have been able to push for 3rd if it made sense.
