Dang - I'm slacking and almost missed this. A starting Monte vs. a healthy Nader tonight on ESPN at 9pm CT:

I'm watching Georges tonight at 8pm ET. I'm not so confident that Matt will see the floor but I think Hali might be starting in the late game vs. Portland.

THT will be out for several more weeks at least with an injury.

Georges put in a great 1st-ever shift for the 76ers tonight; he's got to be happy with it. 8 PT, a really nice assist, the block below (got a little bit beat on a backdoor pass on that one) and 2 3s. He looks like he got even leaner / quicker and was a real veteran presence. Let's hope the year goes that way for him.

Georges looked like he'd get fewer minutes in the 2nd half of Game 1 -- he came in with just about 30 seconds left in the 3rd -- but when the game got out of hand, the starters stayed out. But all of Georges' stats came when the game was very much in question. His line: 18 MIN, 11 PT, 4-5 FG, 3-4 3PT, 1 REB, 1 AST and 1 REB.

Post-game comments on Georges by the Philly Voice:

• It seems exceedingly unlikely that Georges Niang will develop a cult fan following (My note: When has Georges ever NOT developed a cult following?) the way Mike Scott did in Philadelphia — lightning rarely strikes the same spot twice — but he looks primed to have a much bigger on-court impact than Scott did. It's an important upgrade if Niang is even a reasonably consistent shooter, and he offers a little more utility than Scott did to boot.

It's a subtle difference because Niang isn't coming flying around screens a la JJ Redick, but the early returns say Niang is not a true standstill shooter, and the Sixers used flare screens to buy Niang a shooting window that he capitalized on. He's going to fit right in.

DNP for Matt Thomas .

Monte and the Nuggets took home the W in The Valley over the Suns in the season opener, which is a good result. And Hali's Kings beat Portland.

Starter Monte's line: 28 MIN, 9 PT, 3-8 FG, 3-6 3PT, 0-2 FT, 2 REB, 3 AST and 1 TO.

I watched some of the 1st half and I felt like Nader looked lively and good though he didn't score. His line: 13 MIN, 0 PT, 0-2 FG, 3 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL and 1 TO.

That trio ended their first halves with 0 points on 0-8 shooting so it wasn't too memorable.

Haliburton's line: 29 MIN, 2 PT, 1-5 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL and 1 TO. Ames guy Harrison Barnes carried the Kings with 36 points.

Haliburton's line, Woof.

Garza I noticed didn't get any run in the Pistons first game. Weiskamp must not have made the Heat's opening day roster. What a shame.

Georges, getting ready for his home debut for the Sixers:

His revamped shot - since ISU days - really looks good. Great release.

We've seen this before - Hali jumps the passing late for the steal and dunk; tied the game at 95.

The Kings dropped a close-ish one to the Jazz but Tyrese started and had this line: 35 MIN, 15 PT, 7-12 FG, 0-2 3PT, 3 REB, 3 STL, 6 AST, 1 BLK and 2 TO. Good line; he's still without a 3 pointer in the season. Another good night for Ronnie Harris' kid -- 25 PT and 15 REB.

Other Cyclones in action last night:

Georges' Sixers blew a good lead to the Nets. He ended up guarding Harden and Durant a number of times - something few humans on Earth do well. His line was posted above.

Monte again started and the Nuggets got a home W vs. the Spurs. Other than the turnover figure, a good line for Big Game: 29 MIN, 6-12 FG, 1-5 3PT, 2 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL and 4 TO (!!). Ames High guy Dougie McBuckets started for the Spurs and had a rough one with few mcbuckets - only 5 points. Denver is 2-0.

Abdel Nader got his first points of the season and has been the Suns' 10th man but clearly in the rotation so far. Phoenix again looks tough and took out a THT-less Lakers squad. Nader's line: 9 MIN, 4 PT, 1-2 FG, 1-1 3PT, 1-2 FT, 1 REB, and 1 AST.

Matt
got a couple minutes of clean up time for the Bulls and missed a shot.

Tyrese's highlights from last night (wow - he looks so smooth shooting the ball and that floater is SO good):

Cyclones in the NBA on Saturday and Sunday -- Matt Thomas got a DNP in the Bulls' 15-point win. They're playing a 10-man rotation and he ain't in it.

Nader got some extra run in the Suns' surprising blowout loss to Portland. He was a bit chilly from the field: 18 MIN, 6 PT, 2-7 FG, 0-3 3PT, 2-2 FT, 3 REB, 1 STL, and 0 TO.

Today, Philly is at OKC and Sacramento hosts Golden State.
