He's making a name for himself. Some blurbs:

This is why the Green Bay Packers didn’t draft a receiver this year.

More specifically, Allen Lazard is the reason.

And yes, Lazard proved in Sunday night’s 37-30 win at the New Orleans Saints that he’s worthy of No. 2 status.

Lazard is the only player this season with a pair of catches of air-distance throws of 50-plus yards in the same game, according to ESPN Stats & Information research and NFL Next Gen Stats.

I THINK I posted about this summer but I've seen maybe 3 references to the Jomal Wiltz / Jamal Perry name change this. I understand that he considers Jason Perry to be his father (but might technically have been a step-father? Something like that).

Here's some info on the change to JAMAL PERRY:

He's been a little bit like the Cyclones that have established themselves in the NBA after going to the G League. He was on practice squads for 2 years but seems to have established himself with the Dolphins, even after they signed some free agent DBs (IIRC).

Osemele looks good in Cyclone colors.

He barely misses a play - this must be the 1st time he's been fully healthy in a couple years.

Hakeem Butler signs with Philadelphia, to be on the active roster. Apparently as a tight end. Multiple sources are calling him a "new TE". I recall he was a good downfield blocker but is he ready to line up next to a tackle?

Had Lazard posted those numbers Sunday night running opposite Davante Adams, it would be easy to understand.....Adams gets all the attention from defensive coordinators. But to respond like that when Adams is out?

That's a HUGE performance from an ISU alum, who is rapidly becoming a real force on the Packer offense. (And one of Rodgers' most trusted targets.)

The Eagles' receiving corps is devastated by injuries so most writers are assuming that Hakeem Butler will debut in tonight's game. This Fan Sided writer thinks Hakeem could have an impact game (or maybe he writes it because he needs content). I'll be checking him out to see if he gets on the field.

Hakeem is #89 according to ESPN.com.

Bummer - the Eagles have Hakeem Butler on their inactive list tonight.

He just arrived this week so it's understandable but the Eagles have a lot of injuries to WRs and TEs so I was hoping he'd play.

Well, we've had bigger days statistically for our guys in the NFL but today there are no numbers that jump out.

AJ Klein recorded 1 solo tackle in the Bills' win over, um, Vegas.

David Montgomery rushed 10 times for 27 yards (long =6) in the Bears' anemic offense (that was better than the overall team average which was < 2 YPR. The Bears took the L vs. the Colts in Foles' first start.

Jamal Perry (Jomal Wiltz) again played a lot of snaps and had 4 tackles (3 solo).

It was more fun when Lazard was catching bombs from Rodgers and DM was scoring touchdowns.

I presume that Osemele will again be starting for the Chiefs on Monday night. And mauling defenders.

This article doesn't paint an optimistic picture for Allen Lazard's quick return. The Pack has a bye in Week 5, BTW. Here are some blurbs from the article:

GREEN BAY – Based on what happened with tight end Robert Tonyan last year, the Green Bay Packers were smart to act quickly with the core-muscle injury wide receiver Allen Lazard suffered against the New Orleans Saints last Sunday night.

Lazard had the injury repaired this week by Philadelphia-based specialist William Meyer, according to ESPN. Meyer, who is the go-to surgeon for pro sports teams when it comes to core-muscle injuries, has operated on several Packers.

In no case did anyone return to practice sooner than four weeks and in some cases, it took much longer.

Tonyan suffered the injury against Dallas last year and tried to play through it the rest of the season. He never got back to 100% and had a disappointing year.

Surgeons in the field have said it’s generally a four-to-six week injury, but other factors can make recovery longer, including playing wide receiver, which requires so much use of core muscles with all the sharp breaks in and out of pass routes.

The Packers are not saying how long Lazard will be out, but it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say he won’t be back until after the halfway point of the season and possibly not until late November or early December.

Tough break for AL.
