I remember back during Monte's Junior and Senior seasons Fran Fraschilla would comment on Monte's game and how it would translate in the NBA. Fran predicted Monte's career almost perfectly. I reminisced to say it is awesome to see Monte get to play with KD and Devon Booker.

He's had a nice, though not spectacular, career. Hopefully he can keep doing good things and playing the game.

He signed at the vet minimum salary. $2.8m. What’s up with that? i thought he was making around $9m.

Guaranteed to have over $35 million in career earnings, so I think he’ll be ok. There are certainly worse places to land than Phoenix.
Yup at this point just keep hanging on as long as possible even if he barely plays!

The year he signed his previous contract, he averaged 25 minutes a game with 10 points and 3 assists on great efficiency. This past season he only played 33 games at 14 mpg, 5 ppg, and 2 apg on decreased efficiency and fell out of the rotation towards the end of the playoffs.

If he returns to his pre-injury level, he'll outperform this contract and get rewarded for it next off-season.

I am not sure, but I think the player pension pays at a whole different level if you make it to 10 years. With his career earnings he should be okay no matter what happens the next few years.

I don't follow the NBA. Is this a good landing spot for a guy of his age and experience?

Well, he isn't winning anything there but hopefully can land a decent backup role. Too many people need the ball.

Sure. They are a solid team, and he gets to play with KD.

Vesting happens after 3 years, with benefit calculated based on years of service, 10 being the maximum. So some nice spare change in retirement.

It is. Suns have high level bucket getters with Durant, Booker and Beal but no true PG to set them up. Booker was playing PG but best at SG. Having that Big 3 on max contracts means they don’t have much depth.
Monte should get a lot of minutes available to rack up assists and parlay that into a nice contract next year.

Might be a good fit for him then.

His strength is simply getting the ball where it's needed.
