The Nuggets took a surprising L against the Pelicans last night. It was late for me so I watched Monte and company a bit until the end of the 1st quarter and will watch the rest this weekened on DVR. Defensive effort seems to be the culprit based on writers and quotes.

Monte's line looked a bit better though - 22 MIN, 4-10 FG, 1-1 3PT, 8 AST and 0 TO.

8 assists/0 TO? I'll take that all day.

I got angry and turned it off and I didn’t see most of Monte’s assists because they came late. They gave up at least 3 buckets in the first quarter because they didn’t get back on defense. Going under screens and letting Jrue Holiday and Frank Jackson drill open 3s. You aren’t going to win many games with that 3pt differential but the effort wasn’t there either.

Jokic needs to play his way into shape. Sounds like he was a little burnt out on b-ball after FIBA and just chilled rather than stay in shape.

Yeah, I saw some of those transition buckets. Malone was fuming after the game. Monte had a great drive-and-lob to Plumlee. Am going to watch the 2nd half this weekend. I thought Porter had a decent first game in the NBA; he has a lot of offensive skills. I'm hoping that Monte's increased minutes last night help him get in a better rhythm.

I know Jokic is never going to be J. Grant athletically but it just feels like he should be using the off-season to get into better conditioning. Slow is one thing but look what Georges has done to his physique.

It's really difficult to judge Jokic for conditioning when he just did this: https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-nikola-jokic-logs-most-minutes-playoff-game-since-1953/

Plus he looked in good shape for FIBA, and I'm sure he cared much more about playing for Serbia than the early regular season NBA.

Georges got a DNP last night in the Jazz' loss. He's the 10th guy in a 9-man rotation. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep losing if they keep him benched. He made a solid contribution in the playoffs last year and they need shooting.

Monte and the Nuggets are in action on NBA TV tonight at 7:00 ET / 6:00 CT. There's no ISU football game on so maybe you can catch. I downgraded my cable and now I don't have NBA TV. I'm reconsidering my decision now that BB season has begun.

Four different Cyclones had a three in the NBA today. I wonder if that’s ever happened. Matt, Deonte, Abdul, and Monte all got one.

Awesome!

Gonna guess no.

I'm not even sure if there were ever 4 former ISU players in the NBA and actually playing at the same time before 3 years ago.

Yeah, it was good to see Nader and Burton get some rotation minutes. And OKC won (play the Cyclones, NBA coaches). Nader got 12 minutes and had 4 PTS including a 3 and 3 rebounds. Deonte got 8 minutes and had 3 rebounds as well. His 3 was all of his points (he took that very confidently for a guy who's been mostly sitting on the pine):

I’d think so...I knew Monte had one, saw someone say Matt was playing and saw he got one, so I figured I’d check the others. None of them were in garbage time either.

Good game for Monte tonight. He took a charge on Aminu, who outweighs him by 60 lbs, that was a big momentum play in the game. 10Pt 2Stl 0:0 A/T but there weren’t many guys in the second unit making shots other than him.

He looked good on that 3. He actually caught it kind of low, which can hurt your rhythm. His final line was 16 MIN, 3-7 FG, 1-2 3PT, 3 REB, 0 AST and 0 TO. It's not often that Monte has more rebounds than assists.

It seems that Denver played tougher on D to get the win vs. Orlando.

1992-93 season. Jeff Hornacek, Jeff Grayer, Victor Alexander and Barry Stevens. Vic and Barry both played for Golden State - but Barry only played in two or three games. So, while there were 4 Cyclones in the NBA, they did NOT all score 3 pointers on the same day/night.

Matt got some rotation minutes, apparently. His line was 9 MIN, 5 PT, 2-3 FG, 1-2 3PT and, well he's a specialist, no other stats of any other kind.

Valid points. But I'm surprised he hasn't worked to re-do / re-scuplt his body a bit more. I love his game and his skills but it seems like he could get learner.

that would take away from his game imo. Except for the true freaks getting stronger often equates to a loss of touch and less feel. For a touch and feel player the touch and feel stuff is kind of important.
