Niang and Monte come on at the same time at about the 5-minute mark of the first quarter (Game 1 of playoff series). Monte guards Georges in first series and gets and assist in his first possession.

Georges has looked really good. Not sure if it makes twitter but Quin Snyder was fist pumping Georges' three attempt midway through 3rd quarter before it left his hand - liked the ball movement to get the open look and Georges buried it.

Haven't seen Monte have much of an impact yet. I see he's 2-4 from the field and hit a 3 earlier. In general, the Nuggets look a little out of sorts.

Monte has been really good driving into the lane.

Georges misses three back to back 3s...

Monte has more blocks in the show this season than Woodbury had in the G-League this season.

Denver writers on Monte:

Doris Burke had great things to say about his season and this game and mentioned his (nearly) 5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio on at least 2 occasions.

Tuesday, August 18 -- playoff games with ISU guys (these are ET, not CT):

I'm not really counting on Naz's chances to play until I see proof.

Well, OKC has a bunch of young wings, but I have to think that this could mean more playing time for Nader tonight. The Rockets have a small ball approach anyway so the Thunder are going to want as many guys that can guard multiple positions as possible on the court.

I just saw this from 8/14 but haven't seen an update. Now we know why Nader didn't play the final regular season game. Hopefully, this is no longer an issue for Abdel.

Stepping aside from the playoffs, has anyone heard how the NBA is handling 2020 team options and player options? Both Niang and Monte are on non-guarantees for the 2020-21 season, but they were to become fully guaranteed on dates earlier this summer had it been a typical off-season.

I'd imagine those dates were re-negotiated by the union and the league, I just haven't heard anything. Both of their guarantee dates were relatively early, which bodes well for retention. Niang's was 7/9/2020 which would have been just after the start of summer league. It would have given the team a few practices and maybe a game to determine if there was a younger guy they wanted to cut Niang loose for, but not the entirety of summer league. Monte, who is safe or very tradeable, had a date of 6/30/20. That would have been post draft but pre-summer league.

I was wondering the same thing. I think the OKC guys' guarantees kick in -- in theory -- on AUG 1 so I was thinking the same thing - there must have been a renegotiation of the collective bargaining agreement with the players' union.

If you didn't see the game yesterday, this was perfect defense - sliding his feet and staying in position - by Monte Morris:

I saw that one, and also I appreciate how they call fouls in the NBA vs college. That would have 100% been called on Monte in college.
