    Heileman was on the 7-1-1 1938 squad and was a 7th round pick by the Bears. Cox's number was retired because Stapleton made a unilateral decision, and thought Cox was a true representation of a "student-athlete".

    Nice thread bump. Can't believe I haven't caught it before. Glad we know Trice's number now. It should officially be retired for the '23 season. And going forward there should be jerseys available for purchase that say Trice #37
