Schneider Electric is taking over! It might be the next Amazon. I was looking up the prize money....didn't find it yet.....my millenial short attention span then kicked in. 55,000 runners...that is big time.

Her first marathon to. From the Paris Marathon site:

"It has to be said that the battle between the six women who were still together after 33 km was a tough one. Betsy Saina win with a time of 2:22’56’’, 3 seconds in front of Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich and 12 ahead of Ethiopian Gulume Chala. The surprise was that Betsy Saina, 5th in the 10,000 m at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and winner of a half-marathon with a time of 69’17’’, had never before completed a marathon."

I take it was a staggered start so that is why the time at the finish does not match the quote?

Congrats to Betsy! 2:22 is a solid time. And in just the first marathon she finished. If/when she can go sub-2:20, she will be in super elite territory. She's certainly more than capable. I'd like to see her run London or Berlin to go for that super fast time. And of course I'd like to see her run Boston. The broadcast said she lives in the US. I wonder where. Congrats again Betsy!

Great job. I love it when Iowa State athletes get recognition like this. What an accomplishment!

Wow, that gap between the sexes stayed amazingly consistent. The men's winner passed Betsy and finished just a couple of seconds ahead of her. They didn't even have time to set the tape for her to break when she finished.
