Cy mascot got a broken arm?

I can report what I saw, since I was only a few yards away from the incident:
-I did not see any physical altercation with the Cy mascot and any UConn fans
-Then, suddenly, I looked over, and saw Cy sitting on the ground under and near a stairwell, clutching his/her arm
-The medical and training staff came over and attended to Cy
-A few Connecticut state police officers did come down, open up a notebook, and start asking questions to the people in the general vicinity of the altercation
-A lot of people were pointing at somebody--didn't see who
-Eventually, the cops left
-I didn't see anybody in either cardinal and gold or blue and white being escorted with them, though
I do want to say, though, that these UConn fans were really classless and entitled. I'd gone to Iowa City three times and Lincoln and Lawrence once before this wearing a band uniform while I did it, and I never had anything near as negative happen to me as what happened this evening in Hartford. I can relate the particulars if anybody wants to hear them, but there's at least three "incidents" of being verbally threatened just because I was wearing the wrong colors and we were winning.
What happened with Cy--and, again, I don't have all the facts, just reporting what I saw--seems to me to be one of the worst things I've ever heard out of a fan base or an athletic event, in general. The person responsible should be liable for an assault charge as well as medical bills, and UConn should be liable for some of the latter and some damages for failing to provide a safe environment. I don't see how the railing would have been an issue. They seemed plenty high enough to me.
I can relate those incidents above if anybody wants to hear (it was nothing too terrible, just some very smack talk with some bad nature and bad overtones to it), but I did want to outline what I saw happen to Cy tonight. Sorry, no pictures or film of it, though.

I can guarantee I would have been hauled off. I'm not a fighter at all but that **** is ridiculous.
Cy has hurt due to the negligence of a fan on the property of the university, the university has a responsibility to provide a security in the stadium.
If someone is walking on your icy sidewalk and slips and falls, guess what they can sue you because you were negligent. Your homeowners insurance will cover the costs.
The university has liability insurance to cover themselves in cases like this.
I have no idea about the context of this incident, but when I was mascoting, we were not allowed to go into the stands on away games - since we did not have out contingent of handlers (other mascots not in costume). Not sure if that was the situation, or if te rule has changed...
Regardless, this really torques me off. The suit has a lot of padding, bit you're essentially defenseless since your field of view is so limited.

Isn't the sidewalk city property? If they had an altercation on your lawn then you are liable since you had the opportunity to put up a fence, or a no trespassing sign or something else. I think that is how it works. That is beside the point, whoever did this to CY should at least pay for the medical bills. AT LEAST!
If you charge admission to your front yard and someone on your yard did it, then yes.
My employer is based in Hartford, and in my travels there this doesn't surprise me. Hartford itself sucks and the UConn grads are typically the douchebags within the company.
I just wish people would be realistic about this and go after the a**hole that did it instead of blaming the university. I'm sure someone will find a way to hold them liable, but it's not as though their AD, their administration, or their football team encouraged someone to do this.
It's a dumb-*** fan doing something stupid. If this happened in Ames and someone pushed Herkey down the stairs, how quick would everyone be to point out that this was isolated and was one idiot that did this.

How big of a candy *** does one have to be to go after a mascot? Must be a real tough guy there. Hopefully someone from UCONN has the person(s) that is responsible for this as I havn't heard of something this pathetic before.

its a PR thing, they arent going to tweet that they are appalled by the actions of one or two uconn fans and that they have cast a black cloud over a cyclone victory. its a jab, it got its point across.
