We need to be honest. I dislike hawk fans as well. However, their football team has been better than ours the past 5 years....and they may still be. Ferentz has a system that works. Control the clock, dominate the line of scrimmage, no turnovers, run the ball. They also are traditionally stronger physically than us. Look at how many NFL players they have produced...it really is quite impressive.

The hawks have beaten us in every sport for the past several years, and in wrestling for decades. We make fun of Barta, but in all honesty his coaches / programs have kicked our butt's.

So..until we actually beat them in something..we have to take it from them. They have proven they are better than us.

These are the facts. We suck in September and sh#t ourselves against Iowa by making stupid idiot plays that turn the game. The 2019 game was a comedy of errors. How many INTs did we drop? The other peculiar thing about this game is the Big 10 refs give Iowa breaks, game changing breaks, when he game is in Ames. Examples are the Vadeberg hold/PI they didn't call late in the 4rth Q of the 2017 game. Another one was the ghost holding call made on the same play the Iowa DB went through our receiver getting a PI call on him. We should have the ball at a first down in FG range right then and there. Do they even call holds on Iowa in Ames? Unfortunately, the Big 12 refs do not treat us the same in Iowa City.

They have been better that specific game, especially the last couple of yrs we've been better at the end of the yr.

I hate saying the refs are an Issue but that call that game was absolute ********* with what they had let go during the entire game. Iowa's 3rd and 29 conversion that led to a FG they let the most obvious one of the game go uncalled, yet call that late only when it negates a call on iowa that would put us 1st and 10 in FG range...

They had 5 guys drafted so they should be suspect somewhere on the roster.

They pretty much stole half of Tennessee's roster to replace them. This is the best OU team in probably the last 10 years minimum. Not the offensive firepower of the Baker teams, but way better on defense. This is by far the best QB, DL, WRs we'll see all year (unless we somehow make the playoff). Make no mistake, ISU will have their hands full with that team and will be an underdog when they play.

Neither team has since both conferences went to a 9 game schedule. If you look at the team EIU scheduled when they were playing 8 games, the P5 schools they were playing were middle of the road to horrible teams. Looking at those teams records the year they played EIU, only one team ended up with a winning record on the season. Some were like Syracuse and were horrible to average teams like Pitt and Arizona. But that did not stop the EIU fan base from saying that ISU cannot find any other P5 team to play, or how they were already scheduling 10 P5 games a year.

It's just ignorance. I get that ISU wasn't scheduling another P5 when the B12 had divisions and 8 conference games...10 years ago. Iowa did schedule a second P5 at that time, even though they were hardly ever great programs. But back then, ISU was just hoping for 6 wins and it didn't make a lot of sense to schedule hard when you had 9 P5s already. They definitely scheduled harder than KSU or Baylor, who used 4 easy noncons to gain momentum and get to bowls. Iowa was better off as a program and were not usually fighting for a bowl berth. Now that both schools have 9 conference games, they are in the same scheduling boat...at least for nonconference.

Personally, I am 100% on board with going 2 on, 2 off with iowa. We absolutely do not need them to sell tickets. That's a tired argument on their side.

Testifying
Two on and Two off would be perfect. Would have allowed Iowa to schedule ND a few years ago.
And yet Purdue is allowed to play Oregon St and Notre Dame this year.
In the upcoming 8 years of fully released schedules they are playing two power schools 6 times in the noncon.

They’ve never looked that good in the Campbell era and he can’t beat them. He struggles with UNI.

Negative streaks and patterns bother me, especially when they start driving narratives.

I want to crush UNI and beat Iowa to quiet those factual yet annoying narratives about how we’ve sipped sh*t against these programs.

We absolutely pantsed UNI in 2017 42-24 but nobody ever talks about that. The 2019 game was just weird. Iowa State dominated that game between the 20's and just couldn't score. we win that game comfortable 9 times out of 10. UNI's kicker was also unconscious and kept them within striking distance. Until UNI scored on the the Purdy fumble it never even felt like they were going to sniff the endzone. We will absolutely man handle UNI this year.

Blood thirsty, I love it. The people at the games last year were absolute maniacs during games. I can’t imagine what 61500 fans will be like when they come to town this year after missing last season’s success. Even jerry world was a heavy cyclone noise/presence.

Petras is going to piss his pants seeing our defense and crowd on the many third downs he has to face with Will McDonald breathing down his neck.

To this day one of the rowdiest games I've ever attended in the Jack was the KU Ice Bowl. Only the die hards were there and that game was a complete free for all. Beers in the stands and flasks every were. LOL the Ames police just rolled with it and let it go.

That fumble for a TD was a joke too. That was the definition of an incomplete forward pass

This is such a lazy assessment. Up until 2019 we were a cobbled together mess with minimal depth on the two deeps and it took the staff a few weeks to pull the right strings. Up until last year we really couldn't match Iowa in the trenches but that has all changed. Iowa typically feasts on teams that can't run the football. Their back 7 are always and opportunistic group and they just wait for the mistake. Our offense is built to move the ball against Iowa. I'm sure one of our resident Tavern Turds will be more than willing to chime in but we win that game in 2019 if it wasn't for the weather delays. We absolutely had Iowa on their heels and those breaks gave them way too much time to go to the drawing board and scheme.

100% that was a forward pass. That game was a classic example though of what happens with a conservative game plan and allowing teams to just kind of hang around. Ask Iowa fans how many games Kirk has lost because of that strategy. The nice thing about our squad this year is that we are built to be fairly vanilla.

They won't score 17 this year. They were not a good team in the spring and I don't expect significant improvement by fall. Arguably one of Farley's worst teams since he's been there.

Our offense was really stagnant in the first half and we needed a couple of pick 6s to get things going on. That game was light years better than Campbell's other **** fests against UNI, but it wasn't the curb stomping it needs to be.

With Iowa's d-line needing development and Doyle being gone I think this is our game to lose. Our offensive line stands to be maybe the best in a long time, if ever. Our defense is nasty, it's in our house and our fans are ******* blood thirsty. The beating is coming.

iowas DL is going to be trash. They are starting two guys we flat out passed on.
