ISU has a very real chance to take over the lead in the Cy-Hawk Series which currently stands at 5-2 Iowa. Both the Men's and Women's Cross Country points will be awarded next Friday in Ames.

On the Men's side Iowa's top finisher in their conference meet finished 28th with a time of 24:57. Nine Cyclone runners finished the Big 12 meet with better times than the Hawkeye top finisher. I thought maybe since it is cross country and courses are not the same that a tough course could contribute to the descrepancy, however, the top Cyclone finished 4th with a time of 24:12. The 4th place finisher in the Big 10 meet finished at 24:13. This looks like winnable points on the men's side.

On the Women's side Iowa's top finisher in their conference meet was 29th with a time of 21:08. Five Cyclones finished with better times at the Big 12 meet with a 6th just three tenths of a second behind the best Hawkeye time. Again, the course appears to be comparable as the top Cyclone finished 4th with a time of 20:14 while 4th place at the Big 10 meet was claimed with a time of 20:22. The women's points also look quite winnable for the Cyclones.

If ISU gets the sweep they will claim a narrow 6-5 lead in the contest.

Iowa State is so heavily favored in both Men's and Women's cross country it makes wrestling look like a coin flip.
