Did he get a degree in education? If so, it makes sense to land a HS coaching job to supplement the teaching career.

No, at least not yet. He has a sub authorization that expires this year and currently is without a coaching authorization or coaching endorsement. Authorization is easy to get though and certainly will be in place by the time he starts in the fall

Denison’s high school football facility is pretty nice for a community their size. Brandon Scherff has donated a ton of money to the weight room and maybe the field too.

I remember just taking a class for a couple weekends to get my coaching certification (not a teacher). Pretty easy to do.
