Without Naz no energy whatsoever. It is going to be a long season now with 6 players

I dont think so at all. Burton looked alot more comfortable out there than Mckay did last year in his debut. It took Mckay about a month to get up to speed and crack the lineup. I think Burton is going to fill in just fine. My only critic is he took a couple of questionable 3's when he could have just driven in and picked up a foul or got to the basket.

Cooke will be a bust. Thomas had more turnovers than points. Burton looked pretty good for his first game, but didn't play much second half. We will be back to NIT caliber inside of two years.

Man, you win "biggest *******" of the night, and that is tough to do with all the competition tonight.....

It's just one game. A good reality check for the guys to play hard from buzzer to buzzer.

Re: NIT in 2 years....I respectfully disagree, but if we are NIT quality I can guarantee you that Steve Prohm will not be our basketball coach................

I'd argue we played better tonight than we did against Iowa. The difference is that UNI is better coached and didn't shrivel up into the fetal position in the 2nd half.
I actually agree with this. Uni has some clutch players, Eiu does not. Too bad Georges tripped, I actually think we would have won. That said.....I have been quite concerned about this team for several weeks. I was hoping that Thomas+Cooke would equal Naz. They certainly did not last night.

I disagree with your player comments, but unless we land a serviceable big man grad transfer, I think your nit prediction may be true. The two freshman we have are years away from being able to play b12 basketball....if ever. Although Monte played bad yesterday, I think if he returns we are a bubble team next year. If not, nit is likely IMO. The only thing that can change that is the transfer market, or an awesome Spring juco.

Full meltdown mode. It was one game. UNI shot lights out. Sure some were open, but most were contested. We will survive.
contesting a shot happens before the shooter receives the ball. You have to stay close enough that the shooters feet aren't perfectly set when the ball arives.

Made more fgs, more fts, had more rebounds, and less turnovers, but still lost. Not sure what not having Naz had to do with UNI shooting 60% from 3.

Naz was not a world-beater on defense, but one thing is certain, no naz equals more of Nader. I like Nader, but his strong suit is not chasing guys around the arc. He just doesn't have the foot speed. That got a bit exploited last night. An injured Naz could not do that either.

This along with 10+ other threads from last night is proof that even if Campbell turns the football program around that meltdown threads aren't going away. Holy overreaction, Batman.

Hate to break the delusion, but we weren't going undefeated this year. In fact, NOBODY's going undefeated this year. We're already down to 3 undefeated top 10 teams left in Division I and 4 in the top 25.

Also, this is a UNI team that beat UNC earlier this year (yeah, I get they have a few curious losses that balance that out). They're probably going to run away with the MVC.

So we lose our three first place votes in the Coaches' poll and we fall back into the top 10. Big deal. Still early in the year.

Between Burton, McKay, and Niang, one thing this team has this year that it hasn't really had for awhile is serious presence in the paint. Once this team adjusts to jacking up 3s whenever it wants and instead starts running the offense down low it's going to be a really fun offense.
