I'm concerned about the size of the O-Line if Newell is starting. Newell and Good-Jones are both under 300 pounds. I would like to see Foster, Hudson, Good-Jones, Knifel, Meeker. This is just from a fans view, obviously, I don't see these guys in practice. But this line listed above would be massive.
Why are you concerned?

JGJ has started 24 games at 295 pounds. Newell is listed at 282 (that is from the 2017 fall camp roster, i'm sure he's in the 290 range).

The roster sizes aren't updated. Just going strictly off of the 2017 fall camp roster the projected starters are

6'8 304
6'5 293
6'4 282
6'5 317
6'6 314

That's almost 6'6 302. That isn't small.

I'd also wager that once weights are updated, the starting size will average 6'6 310 or so.

Are the post Spring scrimmage videos working for you? I click on them but nothing. It even says that it is playing, but I don't see anything.

Never mind. It was Ad Block doing its job!

Tough with those guys. Sheldon might be David's true backup but if healthy, Kene will see the field more .... if that makes sense.
It does. I see David as the every down workhorse back and Kene as the change of pace, speed back - thunder and lightning if you will. Sheldon on the other hand is the back up workhorse back so Kene would probably come in regularly when a speed back or change of pace is needed but Sheldon would come in during the workhorse downs when David needs a breather.

I know that Mike has a big role on the practice field and in the RBs room, but I still would love to see a bigger role for such a great team player on game days. Perhaps Lanning's personal protector role on the punt team?

I'm concerned because with Newell you have 2 guys under 300 pounds. Your center is usually the smallest O-lineman generally between 295-305. You want your guards around 310-325 and your tackles at 315-325. With 2 guys under 300 it ends up being a small line. This has nothing to do with amount of starts for a guy like JGJ just about size and ability to move big 12 DL.

I'm not concerned at all. There are several teams with great offensive lines that start players under 300 lb. For example, Oklahoma started two OL under 300 lb in 2017 and had the best offensive line in the conference, and one of the best in the country.

The ISU OL will be adequately sized.

Didn't Iowa State have a policy about freshmen not giving interviews? I just watched the post-scrimmage interviews and all three were with redshirt freshmen.

Great to see them doing such a great job with fairly long interviews. If these guys are performing on the field like they did in the interviews, we are in great shape.

I wonder what kind of big plays Sheldon Croney was having on Saturday. Were they Joel Lanning break-through-the-line-in-short-yardage-situation plays? Or plays made in 1st-or-2nd-and-long situations?

By platforming three redshirt freshmen (and starting so many redshirt freshmen and sophomores), Campbell may be sending a message about building his program here!

I'm not really talking about experience, I'm talking about guys in the program period. To have a class with only one guy in it at a position like OL is pretty shocking.
Yeah.

Kodanko, Cole Anderson, and Windham were the only OL recruits from that class if I remember correctly.

Not sure if any have seen the field for other than mop up duty. I know Anderson has battled injury.

I’m concerned about the OL, but not because two guys are off by 10 pounds from your made up target weights. Massive guys can hide deficiencies, but we need better technique, skill, and ability.
