The display picture a joke (most people with a sense of humor here understand that). I don't get to riled up and argue with the hawks because in the end its like arguing with a wall. I tend to laugh at the fac that they need to defend every little hawk related thing here (hence why the display picture). Also, I love the hypocrisy of saying how you don't run your mouth, but here you are. Excellent job man, but have a good night!

that was running my mouth? k..just checkin

Yet there are three college football teams that share fan support throughout the state... hmmm I mean if you say clayborne is dumb enough to not realize that he plays the other two teams basically every year, thats fine. It might explain the whole cabbie situation. :skeptical:

And yet the Hawks are the ONLY one getting talked about this offseason. How difficult is this to understand. "We're the only team in the state, as far as I know". When that was part of an answer to a question regarding the expectations, it's pretty easy to see that it was taken out of context. And the Register has a tendency to do that.

Second, although as a Hawk I should be programmed to hate CPR, it's just too hard to hate the guy, at least last year it was.

I'm glad you qualified that. It is easy to like the opposing coach when the only time he faced your squad he laid a big stinky egg. I like to think that you will find it easier and easier to build up a healthy hate for him in the next few years.

Hawks are primed for a major disappointment of a season. History tells us that. Every time they are built up by the media to have an unbelievable season they fall flat on their ***. They will not win all the close games like last season. They just won't. They will play in a ton of close games again because that is just the way it goes with Ferentz as the coach. I predict 8-4 for the Hawks which will cause their fans to have a meltdown of epic proportions. By midway through the season if not earlier their fans will be calling for the benching of Stanzi.

I admit I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the news lately, but I don't know why any publications would be pimping Iowa to have an unbelievable season. Iowa's bread and butter is in the trenches. One side is pretty well squared away, while the other has holes and is full of question marks. Simply put, if Iowa doesn't get those question marks answered on the offensive line, it's going to be a pretty pedestrian season and any Hawk fan with a sense of reason would understand that.

As for the quote, some are making a way bigger deal out of it than it needs to be. I have read the posts about Jesse Smith's comments last season and don't remember them. I probably knew about them at the time, but it was a non-issue, thus me not remembering them. If he ends up with his foot in his mouth, then so be it.

Iowa also has one of the best line coaches in the nation to rebuild this unit and has a couple guys in line that have at least some game time under their belts. It's not going to be the best line Iowa has had in KF's tenure, but it definitely could be serviceable come September 4th. Thus why there is some concern but not worry about the o-line.

Listen, I like to believe that Ferentz will get the unit into shape (I hope he does). But, there is one very recent example of what can happen when he fails to do so (see: 2007 season, Jake Christensen running for his life). That season showed that it is not merely a theoretical possibility that Ferentz can have a bad O-Line. It showed that it can very easily materialize right before our eyes. So I will continue to hope that Ferentz can get this unit molded together. But I will NOT gloss over the question marks there just because of Ferentz.

A lot of that running was a result of Jake being indecisive, his refusal to throw the ball into the stands when the situation called for it, and him just not being a very good quarterback. The line was bad, but to put it all on them is pretty unfair.

Saying Iowa plays UNI "basically every year" is a pretty ridiculous statement when you realize the 2 teams have played just twice in the last 12 years and don't play again until 2012.

Iowa Hawkeye fan? Why don't you come meet some of the guys. I'd like you to meet Mohammet, Jugdish, Sidney, and Clayton.

I agree that Jake deserves his share of the blame as well. But that line also didn't exactly open up good holes for Young and Sims, either. I know running is harder when you don't have a good QB. But that's just an example of what can happen with an inexperienced line, even under Kirk Ferentz.

Adrian Clayborne

So he said the hawks are the only team in the state. You guys must not like him now. Im assuming the Cyclone players have been rumbling about that statement. I think it only makes this rivalry better. A bunch of smack talk then a controlled fight on the field on the 11th. I for one cant wait!

The Penn state Left tackle has A C's picture as his background on his cell phone. What will Paul do? Double team him? Who will block Klug, Ballard, and Binns?

I Remember a certain Jason Berryman giving the hawks some trouble. It cant be easy being the head coach making all the decisions. I guess thats why they get paid the big bucks. Cheers and good luck this season. Please beat Nebraska again. That was awesome last year. I loved the look on the Nebraska fans faces! Reminded me of the Penn state fans...

Also in the future who will you guys want to lose in the new Cornhawk rivalry game?

We have Osemele, we don't have to double team Claybourn, and he wont get a sack against Iowa State unless they move him to the other side for that game. Plus, isn't your other starting DE going to be suspended for that game? Good thing we have Lamaack among others in the middle.

Yeah Binns could be out for this game. i imagine Kirk will either move Ballard to the LE spot and add Mike Daniels AT DT or he will simply replace B Binns with Lebron Daniel. i will not argue that ISU has a good O line but i honeslty believe it will be hard to keep any Iowa front 4 this year from getting to Arnaud for the whole game. Is Lamaack a Guard this year?
